Yuriorkis Gamboa is so skilled, he would beat Rios. And I love Brandon Rios. Gamboa is just on another level, one of the most gifted fighters I have seen in awhile.

Imo rios kos gamboa. Yuri had a hard time with a super slow ponce and I believe rios is an all around better fighter compared top ponce.

I wouldn't exactly call it a "hard time"; Gamboa won that fight easily, although he chose a different approach than what we've become accustomed to.

Rios would be a test, in my opinion. Brandon is much bigger than Yuri. It would be a matter of Gamboa's speed, athleticism and ring generalship versus Rios's toughness and power. Really difficult fight to call....

Interesting. I just don't see it.
Gamboa is a fantastic fighter, and I love the guy, but he is a FW. Rios is a MONSTER LW, huge, strong, sturdy, punch, everything. Gamboa is great but I think against Rios it would almost be like Teenager vs Grown Man. Gamboa would make it interesting early on with his foot and hand speed, but as soon as Rios starts landing it's over. Rios might have trouble landing at first, but he has accuracy and timing enough that he wouldn't miss all night long. And I don't think Gamboa has the power to slow him down.

The thing people seem to miss here is that Ponce is a Junior Featherweight and Rios is a gigantic version of a LW. That makes a difference. And Rios has a chin, endurance, a big punch, as well as timing and accuracy.
