They were suppose to but I believe when Winky defeated Mosley it killed the Tito/Shane scrap.

        all-time great........

I agree that TITO is an All Time Great without question. I also believe that outside the DE LA HOYA fight, he lost to naturally BIGGER MEN. HOPKINS, WRIGHT, and JONES were all naturally BIGGER than TITO. I believe that had he fought MOSLEY/QUARTEY/NORRIS, it's possible he would have stopped all three. Nobody at 147 could stand up to his accurate quick and timed power shots for 12rounds. Especially QUARTEY. MOSLEY would have got some rounds end but his bravery would have gotten him K.O.ed. NORRIS at 154, was a SUPERB fighter BUT we all know his chin was suspect against punchers and a fight against TITO would have been no different. GOOD READ HERE.

"It is better to shoot for the stars and miss than aim at the gutter and hit it."

Sergio Martinez, Floyd Mayweather and every other boxer that won't step to their biggest challenges of their careers should learn from the career of Tito Trinidad.

Tito did shoot for the stars.

Martinez should stop trying to get fights with smaller guys and should go up in weight and look for the biggest challenge there just like Tito did. Mayweather should do the same, instead of making every guy from 140 to go up to 147 to fight them. Mayweather should be fighting guys from 147 or 154, instead of hand picking his opponents from a class below his weight class. Wow, what a legend he is, right, wow, what a legacy and wow, what an all-time great, yeah right. From Mayweathers last 4 opponents 3 had to come from 135 or 140 to fight him, while the other one was old Mosley. Tito could've stayed on the 147 and 154 waiting for opponents to come up to face them but he didn't, he when up in weight class to face bigger opponents, more dangerous opponents, in other words he was shooting for the stars and although he missed a few of them at least he tried and gave to the boxing fans lots of excitement and glory to Puerto Rico. Only one Tito-Tito the GREAT and All-Time Great and Legend.

This guy put me to sleep w/this article...Trinidad is not an all time great compared tompast generation...he wouldn't have got past Duran @ '47, '54, or '60...and please do not even mention hopkins in the same breath as SRR, no contest if they had gone at it as hopkins wouldn't have been able to pulll his bs...hopkins wouldn't have beat Monzon, etc...

ALL TIME CHEATER!!! As soon as he got caught with illegal hand wraps he got KTFO. He never had a meaningful win after he got caught. And that's a fact!

                      Great article!

He had a great career but the last part was just awfull matchmaking. Don Felix was obsessed with proving Tito was as good a "boxer" as any alltime great and he had to fight Jones to prove he could have beat BHop.

Had he faced a Sakio Bika, Soliman or even Jeff Lacy. Someone who would be there to be hit he could have closed his career on a high note instead of looking old and outclassed.
