Pavlik was 174 at fight night and hopkins 180. There was only a 6 pound difference. And Hopkins wasn't a full fledge light heavyweight yet like he is now.

In contrast Martinez, is now small middleweight.

Finally, Martinez is wiling to go down 10 pounds while Hopkins only 5. Martinez would have to go up 2 weight classes where he has never fought while Pac/May would only have to go up 1 weight classes where they have won belts.

That being said, I would still love to see Martinez vs Hopkins. If they can work something out, it would be awesome.

I honestly think Martinez is slimming down because he's planning on leaving 160 and going to 154 for good.

He weighed 170 against Dzinziruk on fight night and I remember the 30-day before fight against Williams II he weighed in at 176.

At super middleweight- Yes. No give on 170, at 168.
      At light heavy- no.

Maybe he is, but what's done is done and he's now 165. It took him four middleweight fights to finally get to 170 at fight night so I don't think he'll be able to mange MW anymore. He should definitely move down to jr middleweight.

And I really think that 176 was an anomaly. Chances are pretty good he was trying to bulk up after after becoming the middleweight champ and gained a lot a of extra fat since you gotta eat like a pig to gain muscle. I mean, he was only 173 for the 30 day weigh-in for Dzinziruk despite coming at his heaviest for that fight. 176 had to be a one time thing, especially because he was really fighting as a jr middleweight before that.

He'd get more credit than Sergio beating Floyd or Manny.
