People need to get a clue - months ago Martinez said he would NOT fight a 168 pound fighter, but he has no problem going into the ring at 165 to fight a natural welterweight. He didn't realize his words minced him!

Lol. 168 is Martinez ideal weight and it's too big or strong for him now he's looking for someone that he can outweigh by 20lbs at fight night.

Then don't even bring it up. Martinez has a double standard.

Too bad the last 5 of his opponents have all been bigger than he is.....how ironic is that?

Martinez months ago in an interview said his frame is too small for 168 but he has no problem calling out a guy in Pac who weighs in at 143. He thinks he can become #1 by beating a #1 fighter in Pac or Mayweather. It doesn't work that way.

Mathed - maybe bigger in terms of height but not a naturally bigger 168/175 pound fighter who has fought at those classes for a leangth of their career. Paul Williams was big but had fought at welterweight for a long time, unlike Butte who never fought Pro there.

You guys don't know **** about boxing. Do you know who Bernard Hopkins was calling out when he was a middleweight? Trinidad, Mosley, and De La Hoya. All 147 pounders, and no one critisized Hopkins for doing so.

Do you know what fights made Hagler famous? Yup, Duran, Hearns, and Leonard. Surprise, all 147 pound fighters.

Do you know what made Carlos Monzon famous? Surprise, Napoles Emile Griffith. Both 147 pounders as well. I can keep going.

If you know anything about boxing you will know that historically many welterweights fought the middleweight champion of the world.

Sergio Martinez is only doing what every dominant middleweight in the history as done.

Having said that - I think Mayweather who is MUCH faster than the guys who have landed on Martinez would time him perfectly and win by a lopsided margin. Martinez would only be hitting air against Mayweather. Bad style matchup for Martinez.
