I think I'm giving you too much respect. I don't know if I'm wording this wrong or whatever.
I'm not claiming Martinez to be as great as Hopkins...So whether has Hopkins prove himself or not is irrelevant to what I'm referring to.
If Martinez brings something to the table is irrelevant to what I'm referring to.
So now that we got that out of the way. Lets go to what I was referring to, shall we?
You got a guy insinuating that B-Hop has fought at JMW...Not true.
You got that same guy insinuating that Martinez should do what B-Hop did and move up 2 weight-classes higher and Martinez has fought 2 weight-classes higher. Did he not?
YES - he has. . . he started at WW, and now fights at MW. . .Comment

Are you kidding me? This was over 10 years ago. I am not desperate enough to research and prove point. I have no reason to lie. You can believe me or not. But I am telling you, Hopkins was calling out Oscar while Oscar was at 147. Again, why wouldn't he? If you had the possibility of making 8 million dolloars in one fight instead of making the 600,000 you make regularly? WOuld you take it? Of course you would. That's why Hopkins called out Oscar, and that is why Sergio is calling out Manny and Floyd.Comment

yes, he has moved up from middleweight from welterweight. . . but has he accomplished ANYTHING NEAR what hopkins has? NO. . . so it doesn't matter. . . At this point in his career, he is a natural middleweight. . . He has to cut a lot of weight to make 154. . .
Basically Sergio has the same mindset as Arum, and everyone else who maximizes profit and minimizes risks. . . he is not some "pound for pound people's champ". . . he's just a good boxer who has been matched very well. . I just want people to admit that he's simply out for money, and cares nothing about "glory" or being a "people's champ" - HES THE SAME SCHTICK!!
And also HIS FATHER IS POPPA TONY!!
You're talking about something totally different and replying to something that I'm not even debating about.
If you really want to talk about Martinez career, then just tell me that you do. Instead of just replying with subjects that I wasn't even discussing.Comment

For the mentally handicapped - I will make it easy. Hopkins a natural 160 pound fighter fought 168 and 175 pound fighters. He DID NOT call out smaller fighters and ONLY fight guys near his weight class like Martinez is doing. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopkins moved up TWO divisions, Martinez moved up ONE and can't keep smaller guys names out of his mouth but wont move up!!!!!Last edited by richardt; 10-03-2011, 11:56 AM.Comment
