Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr. on Martinez, Hatton's Suicidal Thoughts

The recognized best middleweight in the world, Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martinez kept his express rolling last night with a victory over brave but outgunned Darren Barker from the U.K. Martinez appeared to be a little sluggish during the early going in Atlantic City but would eventually pick things up and carve up an 11th round TKO after controlling the late rounds with his unorthodox attack from his southpaw stance.

      Jump up 2 weight classes?

      Huh???

Floyd won a belt St 154 5 years ago.

But he can't fight Martinez there at 154 now???

He's just afraid to lose is all

      Sad.

Floyd one of the most talented boxers in history, also

one of the most underachieving with his

reluctance to fight prime top guys.

Mayweather moving up to 154 would be career suicide at this point due to his inactivity.

Yeah he may of fought there against oscar at LMW but he only weighed in at 150 on the scales (admittedly he would of weighed more going into the ring). plus oscar isn't as big as Martinez. Oscar only fought at 160 once, Martinez last 5 fights are at 160...

Plus fighting down at 154 they wouldn't be fighting for a title so again it doesn't really improve Mayweathers legacy from a titles prospective. Even if they fought at 154 and Mayweather won they'd just complain that Martinez was weight drained.. It's just a very high risk fight with not much reward.

Obviously for the Mayweather Haters it's perfect.

          Mayweather underachieving??? Child please.

Personally I would like to see Floyd fight Sergio but if it doesn't happen I won't lose sleep over it.

What makes me laugh is pacfans saying that its ok for pac not to fight Sergio because he is too small but its ok for Floyd. Apart from the 2 inches height difference pac and Mayweather are the same size. Both small WW's. Weigh-in weights, Mayweather is only 1lb heavier than pac and actually I've heard pac walks around slightly heavier than Mayweather's walking around weight. Both have fought for JMW title, pac much more recently. So if you are gonna say Floyds a duck that's fair enough, but you gotta say the same for pac.

Sr should watch what he says about li'l Floydie. Him admitting Floyd could make 140 if he wanted to makes the Marquez fight and failure to make the 144 catchweight look much worse. Funny how the angle the Mayweather's and their fans are now taking is that Floyd is a little guy because he supposedly weighed 150 vs Ortiz on the HBO scales, a company he pretty much has under his finger.

Oh yes, Floyd is a huge welterweight, he's a beast. HBO rigged the scales. And the size difference between Mayweather and Ortiz was just an optical illusion. Mayweather could easily make cruiserweight and pac is really a blown up flyweight. Well done, you've exposed a great conspiracy.

                  Sergio? yeah Right

I'm surprised anyone would think there is any chance that Floyd would fight Sergio. Sergio fights at 160. We can't even get a fight with Pac at 147 (his natural weight class)

To think Floyd would go way up to fight him is ridiculous. Lets be real there are probably only a few names who have a chance at fighting Floyd:

                  Khan
                  Ortiz again(hope not)
                  Pac
Berto (if he can recover and work his way back up the ladder)
