That's how you can see who the hater non boxing fans are. Why can't people just see that Barker came to fight and Sergio slept on him a lil. Why does getting hit and nose broke in a boxing match make you a bum? Fights are not supposed to be competitive no more because one guy has a bigger name than the other? Ridiculous.

It's pretty clear that Martinez didn't really feel motivated to train going into his fight against Barker. He's more flat-footed compared to his past fights. That, and the fact that Barker gave 100% in his training, results in surprises like this. Still, a 50% Martinez knocking out a 100% undefeated middleweight 7 years his junior deserves respect.

Yo man.... why don't you just go away and let people post without your obsessiveness coming into play? I can't believe some of the posters on here who would spend all of their time just talking and hating on one fighter without even debating boxing. Go see a shrink.

LOL don't mind him. I don't know what kind of mental illness he has, but he clearly isn't fit to talk intelligently. I've bagged his ass several times before too.

He really is a career wwelter who recently grew into jmw & fights between there & MW. He beat kermit cintron 3 diff ways in one night & was given a draw. He fought P will (who no one else would fight) on short notice & was robbed in the 1st fight. & sparked him in the 2nd. So that 2 vickies on a guy most fighters in 2 divs avoided. Then he beat the recognized MW champ Then Dzizurik. He looked sensational in just about every fight. Barker came into this bought w/ a very concentrated game plan that did not involve offense. He he serg more than usual. But sergio has always been hittable. His entire offense is predicated on luring opps to reach & try to hit his unprotected head then spring into attack w/ lightning counters. Barker took care not to reach or really try to hit SM unless in very close range...It was a wrinkle SM did not seem to have anticipated.

In the past Serg has shown the ability to adjust & follow a superior gameplan to beat opps. As well to show skills we hadn't seen from him in previous fights. To say he is overrated is shortsighted. Barker gave a better acct of himself than expected...kudos. But serg came from having a broken nose to basically fighting the MW vesion of pac/vs clottey....to winning by ko. I firmly firmly believe had Barker oppened up & looked to score....he would've been ended by rd 6-7....no question. He was the equivalent of a team slowing a basketball game down to half court games so not to get a high flying/high octane team going. The whole point was to extend the fight to be there at the end. But the state of barkers face tells the story (and he was DEFENSIVE the entire night)

w/ all that said no question he desrves his space as 3rd best in the world. Both floyd & pac have looked mediocre in fights & it doesn't change there status or rating. Sometimes opps have a style that makes another's look bad...plus..wuts wrong w/ a competative fight. These are pros...it's supposed to be competative. & if u think serg is overrated...tell me who u think will beat him from 54-60....Most likely I'd disagree. I could see pirog's style as a problem...but unlike his 19 or 20 opps serg hits back....hard. def not the same. Sturm should have the style pedigree & exp but He seems to be lacking desire these days...who else?
Good post. I just don't like how the posters on here just come on and talk nonsense, trying to down play a fighter without even being specific as to why. Sergio Martinez is one of the best and styles makes fights. Barker had a plan and strategy that Martinez had to figure out. Sergio got touched up a lil but still came back and wore Barker out. Isn't that what's a champion supposed to do? Most posters on here just talk nonsense all the time it's sickening to see how many grown ass men act like b!tches because they don't like a fighter or what he said about their favorite fighter. Seems like it's a bunch of women, groupie fans and heart broken ho's on here.

Barker said his legs went out from under him and on top of that. Martinez was ****ing on him already. You are acting like 1 punch did that to him.

What nonsesnse. He got hurt at the end of the 10th, took a big hook round the side of the head prior to the KO and then got hit by another big hook around the ear/back of the head. Around the same area only partially blocked and there was a lot of force.

Why would he take a dive when he would've legitimately thought he could still win? The score cards were absolutely ridiculous, clearly they were gonna cheat Barker after all his efforts even if he could've kept it up. How could that be scored 91-99? The ****in cheats could'nt even get his name right. Darren Baker

Fairweather Moron - You are a TIT who ahs obviously never even had a fight of any description, let alone been in a boxing ring. Barker had taken about 4 flush shots immediately before the fight ending punch.
He also took flush punches in the previous rounds, and is known for fading late in fights.
The lad did himself and his country proud, especially considering he was such a big underdog. You only had to see his face in the after fight interview to realise that what you just posted was incredibly moronic and naive.
Now shut up and go play with your crayons.

Did you actually read what I posted or are you getting me mixed up with someone else? I just made the same points you did in defence of Barker FFS!
