IMO his resume is as good as Pirogs in the pro ranks, if not there really isn't much in it.

Barker is faster than Pirog, more experienced, better footwork & better in every department really apart from a slight power advantage to the Russian. The reason he probably picked Barker is because believe it or not this fight will sell really well. It has a good undercard & Barkers a popular guy amongst Brits. Pirog isn't known, not even in Russia, most boxing fans don't even know who he is.
''Pirog - he knocked Jacobs out, don't you remember?''
    ''Errr...Not heard of those guys''

Who is it you guys wants him to fight?
Manny & Floyd don't seem to interested though Sergio said he'd be willing to go down to 150 if needed to get the fight!!!

Pirog would get flattened by Sergio with some ease. The only middleweights I see that styles & skillset could see give Sergios problems are Barker & Golovkin.

No one knew who teh **** Pirog was. He only had like 13 fights or some **** going into the Jacobs bout and was like 32 -34 years old already. How does a guy so old have such few fights, and he's beaten nobody of note. Now look.. now all of a sudden " Sergio has to fight Pirog! "

Get the hell out of here, all of your logics are skewed. Barker is no different than Pirog before him. He's actually got a better resume and more experience.

      Very good post, green K

How is Pirog not a bum but Darren barker is? Explain that 1 to me, please. Because of a win over Pirog? Had barker been given the chance how do we know he may not have done the same thing? Explain to me what makes them different.

Barker has more experience and a better resume. He's also younger and more active. He is no different than Pirog. Pirog was NOBODY until Jacobs. Suddenly he's the guy Sergio has to fight.

Pirog is no different than Barker or Martin Murray. He just beat a highly touted U.S prospect who many say was overrated anyway.

Pirog is still fairly untested, all we know about the guy is he's a lanky Russian with good power. He's a K.O waiting to happen & Sergio would have a field day with him.
Do you really think he's going to be able to walk Sergio down like he does others? Can he adapt?
I think Sergio would put his lights out within the first 3, his style is all so wrong, it's actually a horrible fight.

I actually bet on Pirog to beat Jacobs believe it or not. Jacobs from what I remember (I might be wrong here) was actually outboxing Pirog & was still in first gear until he landed that straight left.
He was squared up, lunging forward, off balance & looked desperate.

I really like Sergio. He fights often and he's entertaining. Unfortunately I seriously doubt we will ever see him in a fight of MASSIVE significance and certainly not a super fight.
