    Controversial? Forrest stops Garcia

In the 10th round, with the fight in the bag, Forrest loaded up on a big hook and missed, and fell to the canvass. The Ref correctly called it a slip, and Garcia looked as though he was walking to a neutral corner. Forrest knew the ref called it a slip, and jumped up and came at Garcia who wasn't looking and had his hands down. Forrest landed two huge hooks and Garcia crumbled. The Ref waived the fight off without a count.

thats sucks for Garcia , Forrest didnt do anything wrong in the book ,but i guess its ethically wrong to attack a guy with his guard down
    experience made the difference

For the record I thought it wasn't Forrest's fault, Garcia should have been protecting himself.

As ususal, controversy arrupted at the fight itself.

When I watched the fight I was dissapointed with the ref. What Forrest did wasn't illegal, but it's not exactly appealing either. THe ref should've made his call more clearly... Then the clincher is that he stopped the fight even though Garcia could've easily made the count and continued it out.

I think that was bs. I mean Garcia was losing the fight, fine.
He had however given a very good account of himself, and made Forrest look worse than he was. I just think that a fighter of Forrest's caliber shouldn't have to resort to cheap shots like that. It wasn't illegal, but I lost a ton of respect for Vernon after seeing that.

The ref is supposed to wipe the gloves and he didnt do that.

In the end yes Garcia should have been protecting himself at all times and been watching his opponent. But the ref isnt without some blame.

Its like when the ref called a halt to the action in gatti vs Mayweather then changed his mind and let Mayweather pop gatti. Gatti shoulda protected himsef sure.. but the ref shoulnt have been so indecisive.
