Comments Thread For: Juanma is Open To Facing Nonito Donaire in 2012

Former two division champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27KOs), who returns on October 1 in Puerto Rico against Mike Oliver, is open to the idea of facing Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18KOs) in 2012. Donaire, the WBO/WBC bantamweight champion, is moving up to 122 after a fight against Omar Narvaez in October, but a move to 126 may happen very quickly as well. Juanma likes the idea of facing him, however, there are several opponents that Juanma can face before a meeting with Donaire.

JuanMa clearly would love to fight Nonito. Lopez has been having trouble making the 126 limit for some time; that's why he's moving up after the Salido rematch. If he's even considering a fight with Donaire, it means real interest. As far as I'm concerned, the greater the match-up the better. I don't care who it is.

I like both guys. Would be an exciting fight. But Juanma gets stretched.

It was a personal statement, not intended to be "insightful". As counter-intuitive as it may seem, not everyone necessarily wants to see the best match-ups. How's that for insight?

I could see Juanma actually putting up a damn good fight but right now Donaire is just at a whole other level and probably would spark him out after a few rounds of WAR!
