So let's see ..
We've got some peasants saying that I don't watch fights.
We've got other peasants saying that I exclusively use boxrec because I don't offer up my opinion as a basis for a debate.
We have one idiot who feels vindicated because I typed "pentacle" instead of "pinnacle". He needs to "sucker punch" himself and then his mother for not taking a misoprostol.
Yet, no one wants to discuss boxing like an adult fan because its clear that they know that they are basing their assertions off of bull****. You're own opinion doesn't legitimize itself.
Sarcasm, insults and spell checking are the weapons of choice for asssholes who don't really watch boxing but subscribe heavily to the opinions of so-called boxing pundits.
We've got people on this thread saying that they won't try to change my mind because I'm dead set in thinking my way DESPITE me writing that I'm open to changing my view IF IT MAKES SENSE!
Vaudeville clowns are hype whores' default position. They start shucking and jiving, and posting pictures and videos when someone who actually knows their **** poses the hard questions.
Now, its seems like its coming down to semantics.
I absolutely DO think that Barrera has given boxing fan GREAT FIGHTS, but is he an ATG himself? Absolutely not. Same with Morales. Same with Gatti. Same with Irish Mickey Ward.
They ALL gave us GREAT fights, but putting on some great shows does not make a boxer himself or his career GREAT at all.
Some Forum members behave as if I wrote that Barrera's matches were boring or something. No ... no ... I never wrote or implied that. Barrera is Mexican and therefore is willing to get the **** beat out of himself as a badge of courage and pride. That will ALWAYS entertain the fans ... casual and astute.
However, did Barrera do win against top level champions consistently in his career and do enough for his career to be considered great when comparing it to boxers who have already been considered great?
The answer is flat out "No".

Barrera had some great fights, but when compared to the elite of boxing and boxing history his resume just doesn't cut it. Same with Morales, Same with Gatti. Same with Mickey Ward. Personally I believe that Joe Calzaghe belongs up here as well.
Current boxers who are enjoying the same hype whore support are Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Mikkel Kessler, Carl Froch(he only has 29 fights, but some are already hailing him as an ATG), Antonio Tarver, Edison Miranda, Kelly Pavlik, Sergio Martinez(has 2 noteworthy fights in 51 fights), Devon Alexander, Tim Bradley.
Name recognition seems to confuse weak minded individuals into believing that those boxers are better than they have actually PROVEN against top competition. Casual and fake asss fans can't be bothered with knowing about the boxers that they watch. they admit so much. They say "I just want to watch good fights" which translates into "I don't give a fcuk about records, rank, titles or quality of achievements. I just want to see men hit each other for 12 rounds and hope for a knockout".
Love me. Hate me, or just don't give a fcuk. I don't care. My satisfaction comes from asking anyone and everyone who came to this thread the same question ... and I watched as all the supposed "excellent, knowledgeable posters" turned into Sarah Palin and spoke AROUND the issue and segued off into the safety of their own shallow and unfounded opinions.
You don't get to see that here very often ... one post that forces a mother fcuker to show his skirt ... but that's how you handle cowards who talk **** that they CANNOT back up. You don't give them any room or measure to wiggle out of discussing the issue.
You have to put them on the stage, under the spotlight, and let the audience watch them sweat like hookers in church waiting to give confession.
If someone had something credible to say, they would have said it by now. You all better believe that those ****s jrosales13 and cupocity303 were looking for ANYTHING to bring up to refute what I have written. Aside from insults and sarcasm, all you people have seen from them is SILENCE.
