I like Cotto alot, but everyone knows he isnt what he was. Martinez would annihilate him. Its understood boxing is a business, but if your a champ you should want to fight the best, knowing that it will payoff financially in the long run and help build up a sport that has supported you your whole life. Its this exact mentality that has made boxing what it is and helped drain the mainstream public's interest, and in turn drained that same kind of money from the fighters except a select few and those select few are rarely paired off with each other. Who the hell wants to watch that outside of diehard boxing fans.

unlike Martinez, Cotto is willing to fight Margarito who beat both their asses. And Cotto just got done headlining a PPV that sold over 200k on the same night that Martinez fought drizurick and did horrible ratings.

The truth is that Cotto is a PPV fighter and Martinez has never sold a PPV in his life

the only reason you hate Martinez is because he called out Pacquiao and could potentially beat him.

Strange to hear Cotto pulling out the money excuse. Never heard him speak on fighting someone and using Money as a means to stop the fight from happening. Well, maybe it saved his life because Martinez would murder Cotto in the ring.

Cotto is aware that Maravilla is a high risk/low reward fight, and I don't think he's fighting for the glory as much as he used to. He's gotten to the point where his name alone can sell, so he's gonna take advantage while he still can. Martinez is capable of beating everyone 154 and below, why should Cotto put himself in the line of fire?
