In a perfect world your statement would be true. But for some reason, I get the feeling that people will somehow discredit his opponents like they've always done in the past. And i guess you believe he will come out from all this fights as the winner right? I doubt it, but if he really would he would be the greatest of all time and im no Mayweather fan! I mean he would retire undefeated and with wins over other Topp4p fighters. His resume all together would just be too good fought and beat the best of his era in manny weight divisions. But like i said i dont see it happening. I would pick Pac and Martinez to beat him.Comment

i like how floyd fans rank mayweather to their personal atg list after fighting pac.
so pbf resume will be great with a pac name under his belt. but at the same time discredit pacs own accomplishments turning pac into this overrated cheating,one-dimensional predictable fighter that fights past prime, in-house,tailor-made bums. while taking PEDs just for good measure
how can a pac name shoot up mayweathers resume like that?

I already think Floyd has a pretty solid resume. He doesn't have a resume like Ali or Leonard (arguably the two best resumes of all-time), but he has beaten good opponents his whole career, with relative little trouble. I think Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are both all-time greats, but until they fight each other, they will be on the lower list of the ATG. I think Floyd's resume is underrated in how people view it, and I think Manny's is a bit overrated in how people view it. To me, they are pretty even. Did Floyd really never beat any good fighters in their prime??? Did Manny beat Marquez, Morales, and Barrera all in their prime and come out untouched??? NO. You can argue that only Barrera (1st fight) was in his prime when Manny beat him. Manny only beat Morales, after Morales lost to Raheem and looked terrible (and I repeat TERRIBLE) in 2006. And he only beat Marquez in 2008 by a controversial SD. Marquez was still great in 08' but not prime anymore.i like how floyd fans rank mayweather to their personal atg list after fighting pac.

I think Manny and Floyd have even resumes and the last 3-4 fights of their careers may end up being the most important. For the time being, Floyd one upped Manny by fighting a prime Victor Ortiz, coming off big wins, while Manny is fighting Marquez for some reason. Still, the resumes are even.
Manny: Ledwaba, Barrera (2), Morales (2 of 3), Marquez, Solis, Diaz, De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley.
Floyd: G. Hernandez, Manfredy, Corrales, C. Hernandez, Chavez, Castillo (2), N'dou, Gatti, Judah, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz.
Both are solid and even. Both have flaws. Both have fighters past their primes and in their primes. I think Floyd may have fought more people in their prime or latter-prime than Manny, but still it's even. I think Floyd's win over Gatti is overrated, simply because Gatti was past it (even when he was fighting Micky Ward), but I think his wins over Corrales, Castillo, and Hatton are really underrated. I think Manny's wins over Morales are overrated, only because Morales was not even close to the same guy and he was coming off a loss to Raheem. But, I think his win over Cotto is a bit underrated. Yeah, Cotto was coming off getting knocked out by Margarito and has never been the same "prime" fighter he was in 2008 since. But, Cotto was still great at the time and is still good now. In my opinion, Cotto just needs one more really big win to cement a legacy as an ATG. He'll avenge his loss to Margarito and has wins over a latter prime/past prime still good Judah and a past prime still good Shane Mosley. If he were to beat Saul Alvarez (who will be a future champion for awhile) or Sergio Martinez, he would become an ATG. However, that most likely won't happen.
Anyways, I don't think Manny Pacquiao sucks and is crappy, I just think his resume is a little overrated. Pacquiao fans always nag Floyd for fighting Baldomir (coming off beating a prime Judah and hadn't lost in 8 years), yet defend Pacquiao fighting Clottey (hadn't won a fight in two years). They say Floyd ducked Margarito and Cotto, but they act like Pacquiao never ducked anything. He certainly ducked a Barrera rematch for 4 years, and a rematch with Marquez for 4 years, and a third fight with Marquez for 3 1/2 years. He certainly wasn't trying to fight Andre Berto or Shane Mosley after the Floyd negotiations broke down. He certainly wasn't trying to fight Victor Ortiz after he beat Andre Berto.
I think Floyd and Manny are even, and the last 3-4 fights of their careers will be the most improtant. If they never fight each other, it'll be sad, and people will automatically say Manny is better. But, if Floyd finished his career fighting Ortiz, Khan, Alvarez, and maybe Martinez...and if Pacquiao finished his career fighting a Cotto rematch, Ortiz in 2012, Bradley, and like a Mike Jones....you may have to give Floyd a slight edge.Comment

Sounds like a trilogy with Pac and a farewell fight with Khan to hand over the torch.According to Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy, Floyd will fight 3-4 more times in the next 18 months and call it a career. He swears to god that Floyd will fight regularly till his retirement, and also guarantees that Mayweather-Khan and Mayweather-Pacquiao will happen.
If Schaefer is right, and he's got NO REASON to lie and he's been a stand up guy, as well as never steering us (the fans) in the wrong direction or contradicting himself, or flat out lying about the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight(Money Time: Mayweather's Decision)...like Bob Arum.
I would love to see Floyd fight 3-4 more times regularly till his career is done. I see Floyd fighting his last fight in early 2013, at age 36, before he completely begins to deteriorate and before his skills start to severely erode. If Schaefer is correct, Floyd will fight 3-4 more times until March 2013 (18 months from now) and call it a career.
Do you believe him??? I certainly don't think Floyd be taking a layoff anymore, he can't afford too. And with so many other fight possibilities in the next year and a half, I see him fighting regularly again. I htink Floyd really enjoyed being back in the ring, and seeing how well he performed in his first 4 rounds of activity in 16 months against the #2 WW in the world who is in his prime coming off wins....I must be honest that I am excited to see Floyd fight these last few fights of his career. He really looked just as solid against Ortiz as he did 16 months earlier against Mosley. You can't deny it.
So, what do you think about Schaefer's guarantee of Floyd fighting regurlarly for the next 18 months, 3-4 more times in the next 18 months, and of Floyd fighting Pacquiao and Khan before it calls it a career???
Here's to wishful thinking...Comment

Floyd has such a casual approach to arranging his fights and diary, that days turn to weeks, and weeks turn to months really fast. And before we know it a year has past.
Floyd needs to show a little more urgency if it need be told? If its khan, Pac and Sergio, he needs to get on his bike and get moving a bit.Comment
