I think we saw a beatable Floyd

In the last few years I have thought that Floyd has looked unbeatable and I have thought that he would beat Pacquiao if they were to fight.

But I dont know if it was a little ring rust or maybe a little bit of father time catching up to Floyd but I thought he looked more vulnerable then he maybe ever has. I think it was round 2 where Ortiz was steadily backing him up all round which was surprising to me. Then that last little flurry where Ortiz landed 2 or 3 clean punches and then turned ignorant by head butting him, I thought that even though Floyd was clearly winning that maybe it would turn in to a little tougher fight coming down the stretch then Floyd would have liked.

I kept thinking that if Ortiz was able to get him against the ropes and land a few shots then maybe Manny has a better shot against him than i thought. Manny with quicker hands and with different angles might be able to land a little more than what Floyd is used.

I dont know, just my thoughts.

his legs aren't quite what they used to be certainly but i don't think he's slipped enough for it to matter against anybody out there at 147

he's still the most accurate puncher in the game.

Not saying you're wrong or should automatically change your opinion, but I suggest you to watch the fight again closely and not pay any attention to the commentators. Ortiz is a young, big powerful southpaw so of coarse it wasn't gonna be a walk in the park immediately but really pay attention to how Ortiz was having a real hard time landing, pushing a guy back against the ropes doesn't mean anything if you can't hit him. And also pay close attention to how easily Floyd was landing his shots (especially the right hand) since the first round. Floyd seemed completely in control and very comfortable in there early on that he even felt the need to let out a rare combo, I was very surprised by this.

Also compare this fight to the first four rounds of Mayweather/Judah and notice how much more Floyd struggled early on in that fight compared to the Ortiz fight. Say the same ending would have happened in the Judah fight after four rounds, everybody would have been claiming Judah was going to win and Floyd had fallen off, since we got to see that whole fight play out though we know what really happened. Floyd likes to take his time with southpaws and systematically break them down and that's what I feel he was doing against Ortiz until the abrupt ending.

Removing the tragic ending, Vic looked game and brought some fire power to make it interesting. I believe Floyd would've turned up the heat and disposed of him or made Vic give up in the end.

As far as his movement, before the fight on Faceoff with Max Kellerman, he stated something to the effect that he wasn't going to move around and box. Said he didn't need to do all that, and was just going to stand there and see what Vic had.

Good call on his combo. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that because I couldn't remember when he last threw a combo. Good stuff.

Cant agree or disagree but like Floyd said.. "It's different once you're in the ring"

I thought that Mayweather was missing more than usual. And he was, by about 10%

Ortiz isn't known as an elusive guy either

If anything Floyd looks more unbeatable when he is aggresive/coming forward and throwing combos. Think back to the corrales fight, he absolutley destroyed a potential future hall of famer.

People say that Floyd has lost his legs, i don't think that will make a hell of alot of difference. Floyd will continue to be more aggresive and use that phone booth shoulder roll defence to greater effect as a result.
