I do believe the difference between you and I is that I use critical thinking and common sense to come to a conclusion, while you stick to an absolute bias and don't consider any other perspective. If you honestly think a spur of the moment headbutt is worse than straight out tricking someone into a defenseless position for a free win then you're definitely the one trolling here.

Here's the thing, I'm not saying Ortiz didn't commit a wrong. He did, and he was deducted a point for that wrong.

And no, I'm not a big Ortiz fan. I believe that Mayweather looked amazing and would have tore him up down the stretch, and if he were a true sportsman who had the ability to forgive someone who was practically begging for his forgiveness, he would have done so instead of taking the coward way out. End of story.

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - It’s official, folks … Victor Ortiz is not in Kansas anymore.

And while I concede his hard-luck back story is still second to none, it’s just as clear that he came to Las Vegas Saturday night to participate in an event for which he was woefully unprepared.

In practical terms, the poor kid brought a knife to a gunfight.

I have to agree on some things here... I usually don't have a problem with Larry Merchant - I like his sometimes poetic metaphors and stuff... but if a fighter is more of a technical fighter in the last few years he makes some very bad comments about them - not only Floyd - stuff like: Please wake me up if something happens etc.

Not every fighter goes into the ring and wants to loose his health for a win... some boxers try it with technique... some with tactics... and and and... I have nothing against so called warriors in the ring - but I also can appreciate the art of boxing... which Larry can't as it seems...

It is simply about the way he asks Mayweather... as he was talking to Ortiz and Ortiz headbutt was way more blatant he asked him about it... and as Ortiz was lying he ain't investigated much more and allowed Ortiz to keep his face... he ask Floyd about it and Floyd said it was fair, protect himself at any times etc. but he had to ask one more time... and again with an attitude that it was wrong and false... for Mayweather it wasn't wrong... and he said how he felt... so what is the point... and to tell him that he would kick his ass is simply out of line... he is just an commentator who asks questions so he should know his role and to tell him that he knows more of boxing then him because he follows boxing for a long time - who cares - is this about Larry Merchant or Floyd Mayweather?

I mean I would love to have his job and work for HBO - fights for free, doing a little bit of commentary... probably I have to see a snoozer here or there but hey... I would be happy to have his job... I think it is just uncalled for to say stuff like that... what he usually says if a boxing match unfolds... my personal opinion... he doesn't get paid to be a fan... he gets paid to be an BOXING expert... you never hear Steward say something bad about boxers either... so yes... I think it would be an good idea to let somebody else interview Floyd after a fight...

I was bewildered as to why Ortiz didn't go with the flow and turn it into a war. His best chance may have been to force PBF to lose his cool.

I just don't think Ortiz has the ability to contain his emotions long enough to be that calculating.

The reason why he didn't go with the flow was because floyd was teeing off on his a$$ and he couldn't land hardly anything. The punches were bothering him thats why he did what he claimed he would make floyd do get on his back foot. Ortiz did eventually react to what was going on and start to bull rush his way in and be overly aggressive but taking punches like that he wouldn't have been able to do that for more than a couple more rounds. As far as some of these guys saying floyd was fading?(Which I've never seen floyd do in ANY fight BTW) I didn't see it maybe I need to watch the fight again.

Ortiz was not competitive really - he just made Floyd block some flurries. Seems that against Mayweather that makes someone competitive?

I'm sure Margarito landed some good shots on Shane in their fight but I wouldn't say he was competitive. Honestly things were getting worse for Victor and as much as I like the kid he was clearly feeling that he had no chance.

By the end of the third round I was telling my guys he was going to quit... and in a way he kind of did...

This Lyle Fitsimmons is definitely sucking the Mayweather teet. "Slurp, Slurp" is the personification of sound that comes from this writing (haha!!!) and Lyle obviously has it in for Merchant because he was about to ask Pretty Boy "VOID" (as in he has, is, and will continue to aVOID and VOID any deal with a real fight with PAC) about getting down to real legacy business with Pacquiao. Ortiz was actually coming on and landing shots on Mayweather that PAC certainly would land more of, but then Ortiz got the "signal" from Mr.WWE to execute the script and then "POW"-controversy, and now more people are talking about controversy and rematch about May vs Ortiz then about May stepping it up to fight PAC. Hmmmmmm, I smell something Lyle, hmmm I hear something too - "Slurp, Slurp"?

Agreed, but instead of looking like a hero winning in 7th after being fouled, Floyd is seen as the JackAss Classless Sportsman that sucker punched a man while he was apologizing to him - that's classless but right on script for Mr.WWE. I really wanted Floyd to kick Ortiz ass after he got headbutted like that, but I wanted Floyd to do it with class and do the right thing - but his boxing style and class don't command the PPV, but playing the villain has - script couldn't have been better on this...
