Ortiz, ten years younger , 14 lbs heavier and throwing flying head butts!? He got just what he deserved KTFO! Intentional head butts are the most dangerous and therefore the dirtiest foul in boxing. A head can end a fighters career. Mayweather’s form of justice was swift, lethal and legal! Only the most hateful and twisted logic can get past Ortiz’s blatant foul to accuse Mayweather of not playing fair. So called boxing analysts like Merchant and this writer sacrifice their credibility to suck up to the Mayweather haters. Floyd, in fact is the the bad guy who is also the baddest in the ring bar none. Ortiz aint even mad, he got an easy out from a good ass whippin. Arum never thought Pac could whip May; now he knows it for a fact.
Yes, Floyd had every right to cold **** Ortiz after a blatantly intentional headbutt, but come on, Lyle, get off Floyd's d1ck. Everyone knows that Floyd has never faced competition as solid as Barrera, Morales, and Marquez all in their primes. Say what you want about Pacquiao facing Floyd's "table scraps", but at least Manny had the guts to face Cotto and Margarito who Floyd avoided like the plague. As for Larry Merchant, he's always told Floyd, the ignorant bully what most hardcore fans have on their mind. His opposition is soft, and when Floyd threw a tantrum, Larry stood up to him just like Showtime's Jim Gray would've done. By the way, Lyle, what a$$ kissing by Larry to Manny would you be referring to for the win over Mosley? It was on Showtime so I don't recall Merchant interviewing Manny when the fight ended.
in their PRIME???????barrera and eric were old and shop worn from multiple wars when pac faced them. had he faced barrera in his prime he would have suffered as prince naseem hamed did. and pac could have fought many great fighters but avoided them. he avoided cassamayor, campbell, freitas, gatti, harris, z raheem, torres and others. pac fans always point to top rank fighter and say floyd ducked them. but the truth is arum wanted to rob floyd and not pac what the fight was worth, just like he does pac now. but pac avoided multiple good fighters from multiple promoters. and before some clown says they are not in the same wt class, they were at some point....
What most people are missing is that the real issue isn't whether Ortiz deserved what he got, but whether the fans deserved what they got. They didn't. Mayweather got paid $40 million for this fight, money which ultimately came from the fans, and in return he delivered a hugely anti-climactic ending. Anyone can get a knock-out by hitting someone who is looking at the ref and has his hands down. It doesn't take a great fighter to be able to do that. But Floyd is a great fighter, and could have got a highlight reel knock-out and sent the fans home happy, instead of giving the fans a massively anti-climactic ending. If he'd done that everyone would have been celebrating a great performance by a true master boxer instead of debating the rights and wrongs of the way the fight ended. Floyd let the fans who pay him down, and himself down, by taking advantage of a man who wasn't in a position to defend himself when he had the ability to get the knock-out using his skills.
And Cortez screwed up big time by looking at the timekeepers instead of at the action at the crucial moment.
Thats is exactly what I have been saying, great post.
* Ortiz started the dirty stuff
* The onus was on Ortiz to protect himself at all times
* The fight had recommenced, so both punches were legal
* The hook was (probably) a deserved cheapshot
* The right hand was an undeserved cheapshot, and it ***ed up the fight
* Both punches were unnecessary, but I understand the hook
* I was not happy that the fight ended unnecessarily prematurely, and controversially

This bares repeating. Though I would've preferred Floyd taking a five, then proceeding to pick Vic apart, then KO'ing him.
I feel Vic would've tried to save himself from getting KO'd one way or another and refused to leave his stool for the start of the 6th.
Why do you pretend that this is about buying PPV-tickets? This happens all the time in boxing and any other sport. Like any other sport, it's unpredictable. You want the fighters to arrange when and how they're going to end the fight beforehand?
Did you see people complain about how Tyson was knocking people out in the first 1-3 rounds? Or how Roy was destroying no-names in his prime? No, they got what they came for. A good fight, a good show and eventually a KO as a bonus. We got 4 good rounds and a KO.
Did the fans of Osasuna want their money back when they got beat 0-8 by Barcelona last week? No, nobody knew how the game would have ended. It's a competitive sport, it's unpredictable. You, as a customer, should know this. There are no guarantees and you simply can't ask for a guarantee, not even in this sport.
Actually, the majority of people who are complaining about the outcome either have a political agenda (by being politically correct) or just wanted Ortiz to win.
To me, it seemed that the people who ATTENDED the fight at the arena were quite happy. They got a great fight.
Even a casual fight fan like Jenna Jameson said she was entertained.
Were you not entertained? Or did you just hope that Ortiz would knock Floyd out because you hate Floyd? (this question is not only directed at you).
I would have preferred 12 live rounds, or a non-controversial ending.
I certainly did not feel " satisfied " or " fulfilled " with that fight.
The controversial ending was completely unnecessary.
not sure. ortiz was looking competitive to me roughin up floyd and landing some good shots.
he was looking alright, i think it was the 3rd round where floyd showed his superior skill to victor. and he was throwing some good punches, but the reason he tossed the headbutt was because barely any were landing.
end of day, i dont like the way the fight ended or the fact that floyd didnt just beat up on victor, but he did have it coming. in boxing you say sorry and do what victor does when its an accident headbutt or low blow, not a obvious dirty shot. if a guy spit in my face on the street and then came up to me to apologize i would try to knock him the fuuck out.
that being said, fitzsimmons has had his tongue in floyds ass for years.
