I saw this fool laugh with Hatton even though Hatton was mauling, wrestling and fouling all night in one of his fights in america, I have seen this fool give people like Pacquiao, Pavlik a pass on his line of questioning, You have to be a damn fool to try and down play the way Merchant has been behaving when it comes to fighters he doesnt like..

If he questions all fighters the same way then i have zero problem with him but nope,He even did that same ***** with Naz.
Consider that he has never said a racist word in a 60 year career of covering sports (and Merchant is hardly reserved when he talks) and that he has bashed all kinds of fighters from 7 different decades, from the 1950's to the 2010s. This doesn't speak of racism. Like Jim Gray of Showtime, he is straight-forward, opinionated (nowadays) and a bit of a prick to be honest. People are too quick to call others racist these days because they have come up with a few supporting examples. He was even ripping into Micky Ward during the Augie Sanchez fight, when Ward was back-pedaling and not trying to fight.

I'd say that Merchant is most off-put by displayed arrogance, even if he is a little hypocritical in that matter. The likes of Mayweather and Hamed were never the most humble of men.

This was back when you could ask the tough questions with a hint of class:

Back in the day Merchant actually scored the Ali-Frazier I fight for Ali. About the only newspaperwriter who did.

I'm only going to touch on 2 points.

          1. When Pavlik KO'd Taylor, according to Merchant, it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. When Hopkins dominated pavlik, instead of complimenting Hopkins, merchant blamed Arum for making the fight and Pavlik's inability to go up in weight and compete. Come on fellas!

          2. This thing about Pac and steroids have been present since 2009. Why hasn't Merchant asked Pacquiao anything about OST in any post fight interviews???? Come on fellas.

This is just the tip of the iceberg regarding Merchant. We're not even going to talk about his hate for RJJ...

He doesnt need to say anything racist on camera for me, His actions say it all, And Whats Mayweather and Naz not being humble got to do with the way they are been interviewed in the ring?

Calling out a troll and then the troll suffering from troll's remorse is not "hatred".

Larry is right to criticize that scumbag for all the years of wasting everyones time with garbage fights against bums.

Great vid from Mr. Opal as always. As far as Larry Merchant is concerned he has been disrespectful to plenty of fighters as long as I've been alive and watching boxing. I'm not saying its right or wrong I'm just indifferent because its what I've come to expect of him. Where I think HBO should have drawn the line is the interview he did with Katsidis after the Marquez fight. I think that interview TOTALLY crossed the line of being smug and hateful and he took it way beyond what I thought even Merchant was capable of and I wouldn't have been mad at Kats if he punched him in his mouth. Pro boxer or not.

Merchant said this before the fight and he gave Hopkins a very good chance going in. I wouldn't say he gave Hopkins no credit though.

The man is a tool, and i racist, He doesnt like people or boxer who cant shut up,He thinks this is the 40s or 50s when fighters have to say yes sir, Your Pavilk-Taylor-B-hop comparism was spot on and typical example of his racial tone of speaking.
