Floyd seemed to get hit more than usual, why?

I have to watch the fight again but it seemed that Floyd was getting hit with harder shots than we are used to seeing. And obviously in the Mosley fight too.
Against Ortiz, was it because of age, ring-rust, or because of Ortiz himself (speed, southpaw, etc)?

I'm not sure if age is an issue, undecided there, but I imagine ring rust and Ortiz being Ortiz were the problems.

Edit: Forget talking about Lampley because I agree he seemed to be wrong a few times. However, there were obvious shots that Floyd got hit with.

And he got hit 26 times in 4 rounds but none of them were by jabs. 26 power shots is higher than normal for him.

I disagree. Lampley was saying shots landed that didn't. It looked that way probably because floyd was the agressor which is rare for him. He's usually countering all night.

All Victor Ortiz has is power punches. No jab landed and the only time he was really able to do something was when floyd was on the ropes and all that was is just being active.

All in all, it was going like a normal Floyd fight, Ortiz only connected on 18% of his punches. Last five fights for Floyd going into the fight was 16%. If the fight would have continued, Ortiz's percentage would have surely dropped.

I agree that shots were not landing when Lampley said they were. To me it looked like a lot of the straight lefts were being blocked. However, I watched a lot of the round in slow motion and in the 4th round for instance, Floyd got hit a few times with power shots; mainly the right and left that sent him into the ropes before the headbutt.
On the ropes throughout the fight, his gloves were up but some punches were still getting through and knocking his head back. Even on here one of the recent articles lowered his defense rating from A+ to an A. Still great obviously but not as good.

He's got no legs anymore so is forced to stand toe to toe. His time is coming.

Because he was being more aggressive than normal.

Though Ortiz barely landed ****, he landed 0 of 31 jabs & only landed 26 shots through the whole fight.

Floyd was turning his head lowering the effect the punches had. he also parryed and blocked a ton of punches. Taking the lead means you exspose yourself more. Don't know if he fights pac that way.
