For one he never fights the same fight twice. Every fight he goes into with a different gameplan. Im sure Floyd watched some tape because from the jump he was ducking after his lead right, which ive never seen him do before. After he saw that the hook/uppercut wasnt following his lead, he just stood right in front of the boy and started peppering him.

i said too that i think floyd's legs are going, but it's because he did seem to stumble about in the ring tonight (he wasn't a ****ing clydesdale stomping around, but he wasn't as liquid smooth as he's been in years past)

when floyd was throwing punches in the first round and not connecting, he was falling off balance, something you don't normally see from floyd

maybe it's ring rust, or maybe it's his legs

This was an excellent display by Mayweather.

Not only did he shut down Ortiz' offense throughout the fight, but he showed that even a MW southpaw couldn't push him around.

Ortiz got what he deserved for pulling the same **** Shane Mosley pulled. Touching gloves every 10 seconds ... is that some new boxing fad? That's what they do in SPARRING, not championship matches.

Its been a while since I've seen Floyd go at an opponent with vicious intent. Ortiz was frustrated, but he treated the ring like a place to make apologies. He made a grave mistake there. All that could have waited until after the fight.

I applaud Mayweather for finishing Ortiz the way he did. Hopefully, this will send a message to future opponents that just because you're getting your ass kicked doesn't mean its time to touch gloves, complain to the ref or hug it out. Gatti made the same mistake and got floored for it.

What makes this performance important is that Ortiz is the second man over 160lbs that Mayweather has defeated. Ortiz is also a southpaw. Floyd has shown that he can defeat men WITHOUT catchweights or rehydration clauses way above the WW limit.

At every turn Floyd has shown a willingness to PROVE that he is the best. After having beaten the best in every division save Tszyu, Mayweather has taken the boxing world by storm.

Mayweather has options. He can unify the WW division. He can fight Khan or Bradley, or he can move up and face Martinez. If he did face Martinez and won, Pacquiao would then be an afterthought. Who would care if Floyd faced a guy who has only at best beaten a 4th ranked WW at that point?

Besides, the hype for the Mayweather/Pacquiao bout only exists for the "what-'ifs", not because Pacquiao has done or beaten anyone that would give the indication that he would beat Floyd. That's exactly why Floyd would be the betting favorite.

Hate him or love him ... Mayweather is boxing's MVP.

i agree its more of the refs fault than anyones he deducted the point and should of made sure everthing in the rind was ok he lookin to the side talkin knowing the fighters are close and anything could happen floyd took advantage of somthing vic started,great night of fights but the main event ended in a way it shouldnt have boxing needs to step it up in so many ways

I disagree, he was completely on point that first round. Remember Floyd is usually a slow starter, its because he is reading you in that first round. Tonight tho it seemed like he had a plan and that was to pot shot and get out of danger quick as possible, which is the usual plan. He was dramatically ducking and shooting out after leading with the right hand which tells me he was concerned about the power and size ortiz showed. After that round he stopped doing that, mainly because the countershot he expected ortiz to throw never came.

I was thinking the same thing, he had that timed instantly and he never gave ortiz a stationary target. Ortoz was baffled within 2 rounds and by the 3rd round he wasnt even really throwing and was getting backed down and beat up.

Im glad mayweather tought him a lesson, that head but was a bad look for ortiz especially after his camp was complaining about floyd being dirty. Ortiz got spanked. It really didnt matter because within the next 3 rounds Ortiz was about to be punished.
