Bull**** stoppage, i wonder how much the ref was paid?

Gomez was skooling alveraz, gomez was hurt dont get me wrong but that stoppage was just ridiculous.

Alveraz to me seems like a b level fighter cant believe this guy is a world champ, boxing corruption at its best i guess.

What an incompetent referee that guy was. The first **** up was the bogus knockdown in round 1 and then the second one the premature stoppage in round 6. I don't care if you think Alvarez was carrying Gomez or not, Gomez was fighting a competitive fight and deserved to get the benefit of the doubt..

Much props to Gomez! I had the fight tied also until the early stoppage! No way Canello lasts in there with a true 154 pounder with some decent punching power! Another overhyped GBP fighter!

Bull**** stoppage. Canelo is no Cotto in the way he performed against Gomez.

After the first round kd, Alvarez seemed to think that he had enough of a cushion so that he didn't have to fight urgently. Alvarez isn't the type of guy to push the issue until he finds an opening, however, he looked too passive in this fight before hurting him in the 6th. The stoppage was premature, I would have liked to have seen a highlight reel stoppage by Alvarez, which I thought he was on his way to achieving.

Bad stoppage. Canelo looked so passive at times that I was almost sure he had hurt his hand or something. He refused to punch for long stretches while he was engaged with Gomez. I couldn't figure out what he was thinking. He seems to be able to turn it on at will, at least against the fringe contender-level like Gomez, but I thought his performance overall was pretty terrible. Canelo probably would have eventually stopped Gomez, but I honestly wouldn't have been too shocked at that point if Gomez had recovered and even made it close on the scorecards. Way to go, Wayne Hedgepeth...

@ alvarez practicing different styles in this fight. he honestly treated this like a sparring session or something. stoppage could be seen as a bit too early, but gomez wasn't reacting to alvarez's punches and wasn't taking a knee, the ko would've happened.
