Canelo looked like he was playing with Gomez for most of that fight.

Canelo didn't look to hot. Gomez looked a bit like Frazier!? Canelo did not know how to throw a uppercut.

And still undefeated! He does what ever he wants with his opponents. He knew damn well what he was doing. He looked so bored. Those punches that Gomez were throwing were tickling Canelo. He was like, "Ok I gave this kid his 15 minutes of fame... now to finish him... Kablam bitch!" lol

B U L L S H I T stoppage!!! Like I have ALWAYS said, Canelo IS A TOTAL HYPE JOB!!! Gomez who a naturally SMALLER FIGHTER(he's originally a welterweight) & is a CLASS C fighter would have won WON ALL THE 1st 4 ROUNDS if it wasn't for the flash knockdown in the 1st & the 5th was sort of even & then el Canelo got another B U L L S H I T KO as a gift in the 6th round..Like Gomez said, "the ref was looking for a GOOD REASON to stop the fight & he found it!"..Even thou Canelo landed a good shot & hurt Gomez, there was NO REASON to stop that fight..That fight was stopped prematurely & Gomez was getting the best out of el Canelo & ANYBODY with even 1/2 a brain knows that!! Just to think that Gomez(at his natural weight at 147lbs) DIDN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO WINNING A ROUND against Cotto(Miguel) in the fight where Cotto stopped him in 5 rounds & knocked Gomez down 3 times(rounds 2, 3 & 5) & staggered Gomez in the 1st...Canelo & just like J.C Chavez jr are TOTAL HYPE JOS THAT AIN'T WORTH S H I T!!!

I think Gomez just provided Canelo's opponents a blueprint in how to beat him.

I don't agree that Canelo is a hype job. His recent accomplishments stack up at least evenly with anyone in the division. He completely dominated Ryan Rhodes, who was easily a top-10 contender, and has taken out some fringe contenders, too. Given Angulo and Cotto's relative inactivity and tendency to fight less than championship-level opposition lately and Bundrage's iffy performances in years past, I think Canelo is the #1 contender in the division right now, hype or no hype. And while I'm definitely critical of this performance, I do believe it is the exception rather than the rule. He was way too good against Rhodes for me to believe that he's got anything less than top 5 ability, and he probably has enough to eventually be undisputed.

I thought he was all hype even as recently as the aftermath of the N'Dou fight because his skills didn't exactly look flashy or electrifying, but he's a heavy-handed if largely workmanlike fighter, and his accomplishment at this early stage of his career speaks for itself. Now is it fair that he can turn a PPV into a split-site to accommodate him while Bundrage can't even crack the TV side of an HBO telecast that features Stiverne-Austin even though he's fighting a tv-friendly top-10 contender? Not at all. That's the hype factor working. But is Canelo legit in his own right? Absolutely. He just had a bad night, and his bad night in this case means he slept through 4 1/2 rounds and then woke up in time to get a 5th round TKO. Not a 100% legit one, but most likely it was headed that direction anyway.

Canelo did his thing but so did Gomez, I thought he was more competitive than expected. Canelo is clearly not ready for Cotto but he is still young. Ref is a maiz as well, horrible reffing tonight with his guy and Joe Cortez's ****** ass.

I don't know. Cotto went a little bit life-and-death with a guy who is, at best, no better than Gomez at this point, in Ricardo Mayorga. All Cotto has really done in this division besides that is beat a feather-fisted contender who went lame midway through the fight. We still haven't seen Cotto tested at 154 against any sort of well-rounded fighter in anything close to his prime. I mean you've gotta give Cotto credit for the Foreman win considering Foreman was legitimately in the neighborhood of the top 5 at the time, but he arguably still was when he fought Pawel Wolak. Wolak destroyed him even worse than did Cotto and then arguably got beaten by Delvin Rodriguez- a welterweight gatekeeper- in his next fight. Maybe Foreman was better than Ryan Rhodes, but Canelo has a few other decent wins that compare very well to what Cotto has done, and I don't really see a big gap one way or the other in the way either guy looks in the ring, except that Cotto maybe seems more focused based on this last Canelo fight, and Canelo seems a little stronger and heavier-handed at this point and at this weight. I think that would be an even-money fight any way you slice it.
