i actually thought victor was shooting a MEAN straight left to the body - his body punching was pretty good. watch how he disguises it as if he's coming up top, but snakes it RIGHT under the guard into Berto's gut.

and he showed pretty good head movement at times too - in particular when he was hurt; he was ducking some beastly shots that might have ended the fight. . . he showed composure when hurt. . .

but yes, overall still some noob mistakes like lunging in, and his footwork/stance gets sloppy at times (VERY wide stance) - that won't work against floyd. . . but he has very underrated fundamental's - it's just that he's best when coming forward, rather than boxing off the back foot.

      Footwork is like OK.
Both Berto and Ortiz are just head hunters.
What about a good solid jab and stop diving head first. THIS AIN'T DIVING LIKE GREG LOUGANIS.

Then he quiets down as the rounds go on. Floyd is almost.......maybe this isn't the right word but I will use it......vulnerable the first few rounds. Until he fully downloads what you are doing he can be tagged if you throw the right shot. Victor HAS HAS HAS to jump on Floyd early to even have a chance. Noone will EVER beat Floyd by decision. He adjusts to well.

Ortiz's footwork problem stems from the fact that hes a converted southpaw. Its why he gets so awkward with the way he throws punches sometimes.

So did Hatton and he didn't have a problem continuing to attempt to move to the inside.

Ortiz' footwork is underrated, he uses his footwork to feint his way to the inside. He'll feint to get you to react and/or throw off your timing, then move in, while you're still off balance.

Ortiz' defense is better than Hatton's and Mayweather landed just 39% of his punches and 13 punches a round. 39% and 12 punches per round is low for Floyd, let alone against someone who has a leakier defense and is lesser of an offensive threat than Ortiz.

Ortiz has decent head and upper body movement, better than Hatton's.

Ortiz landed 80+ body punches on Berto and the Berto fight is just the beginning of him including this into his arsenal, IMO. You will see plenty body-head combinations and Ortiz working the body before the breaks.

With all his deficiencies and inexperience, you're going to see Mayweather get hit more tonight than Mosley and Marquez put together. Ortiz' style is foreign to Jr. and it will show in the fight.

Hatton is faster on his feet then Ortiz. Still, he got caught flush ALOT trying to get inside. I see Ortiz getting caught similarly if he fights like he did against Berto. Mayweather will counter the **** out of him, and possibly make him quit. He can't fight on the outside, or try to box Mayweather, as he will get frustrated, hit a lot, and most likely quit.

So what can Ortiz do? He can't do **** unless Floyd somehow slips as a result of being inactive, but judging from his training videos Ortiz is in for a BIG surprise. He thinks his physical strength will overwhelm Floyd, as well as his power, but his thoughts are wrong. Just like Mosley he will find out that it doesn't mean ****. You can't do ****, and Ortiz has ACTUALLY quit inside the ring, so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again.

I am watching it again right now and Victo CAN'T box going backwards. He got KD in the 6th because he was boxing in the middle of the ring, lunged forward with a punch and got countered with a right hand.
