Finally someone with comon sense. Donaire is good but a KO over montiel does not mean he will go up in weight and automatically dominate higher divisions

If Donaire can't do 126, then there's no way we're ever going
to see this fight. At least, Gamboa is considering it. I may be
wrong but I suspected the whole purpose of Gamboa's moving
up in weight was to duck guys like Donaire.

Good chance we'll never see this fight at 126. Gamboa's fought at 130 before; he fought his last fight at 127. It really does seem Yuri's done with making the FW limit. If a fight with JuanMa had presented itself, he would've jumped on it. I doubt Gamboa feels he needs to duck anyone at 126. There's no one he needs to fear at that weight.

Gamboa is clearly unhappy with the money aspect of his career.
Don't know why he can't secure big fights he's been clamoring for.

Donaire should make this happen. He can't keep beating up guys way smaller than him, and expect to be p4p.

Donaire dented Montiels skull. That punch would knock out almost anyone.

Lol this post is very funny. Because it's like 8lbs....like that's how pussified Boxing has gotten. That 8lbs is an astronomical amount. Just goes to show what those guys who were fighting in a boxing era that only had 8 weight classes, were going through. I wasn't around that time, no where near, but I can still respect them seeing how boxing is now and how it was then. Don't care if the fighters from now are better and more well-nutritioned, the golden age boxers are much much tougher in every way. 15 rounds, 8 weight classes, 1 belt. Just crazy.

Now, 8lbs=OMFG he can't do it, he'll die!

Everything has become highly specialized, not just in boxing. I don't know if you follow baseball, but it's like the 100 pitch count.

I agree that the old-timers were a hardier bunch. (Don't forget that they wore smaller gloves, too!) But eight pounds in the lighter weight classes is actually a good deal of weight. We're talking eight solid pounds. That's a big deal when you're going from 118 to 126. I weigh almost 200 lbs and I notice when I've put on five pounds of fat. A world-class boxer like Donaire is competing on an edge. He should move up gradually to allow his body to adapt to the change.

I like Donaire, but if I was him, i would focus on that 118 lbs division and try to clean that division out, don't like a few clueless fans and a few media people pump your head up and commit Career Suicide by taking on more then you can handle

Gamboa at 126 right now would kill him IMO, but if he works his way up and take a few fights at 122 then 126 then who knows, but if he just jumps to 126...that fight won't even be close

Donaire should focus on cleaning out that 118 division starting with the Winner of Mares vs Agbeko II
