Very simply, will Floyd Mayweather Jr. -vs- Victor Ortiz end in a decision or stoppage? Will this go the full 12 rounds or not and why? Poll to follow, please discuss!

There are a lot of unclear variables in this one.. The main reason I made this poll is because I threw a couple bucks on "fight does not go distance." I feel there are a lot of ways this fight could end prematurely, and +125 is good value. By no means a safe bet, but very much a fun bet to watch unfold. On the flip side, I nearly put those dollars on Mayweather by decision.. Anyways, looking forward to seeing what NSB thinks in this poll.

If I had to compare that melon's strike to one punch that could potentially take place in this fight. I'd say that would be Mayweather's counter right followed by Ortiz rolling backwards on his back. I realize that wasn't the intention of you posting the melon gif, but that was my first reaction.

Another boring decision win for Floyd.

He's not strong enough to hurt Ortiz.

Ortiz has a better chance of stopping Floyd than Floyd stopping him, yes I'm very serious.

I think if this gets to the later rounds, and Ortiz is behind on the cards and desperate. I think he will be more inclined to swing wildly and throw bombs than be content to go the distance. On the flip side, I think Mayweather will be willing to sit down on punches when Ortiz squares up and puts himself out of position.

I think one very viable possibility in this fight is if it gets to the point where Ortiz is so outboxed that he's tripping on his feet in the later rounds trying desperately to win the fight with one punch.. Mayweather will be willing to take that slight risk and oblige him by sitting down on a few of his punches. The comparison is very partial, but I can imagine a similar desparation to Mayweather/Hatton. Obviously Ortiz is not Hatton, but following all the media criticism he's endured. I think Ortiz is more likely to go out like Ricky Hatton than David Haye. While Mayweather has been known to cruise at times when ahead on the cards, I think he enjoys target practice.. It could turn into that if Ortiz doesn't hurt Mayweather early..

I'm picking a stoppage, but not because he'll hurt Ortiz that much. I expect Ortiz to be out of the fight late when either he or his corner will stop the fight because he just doesn't need to take anymore punches.

Chances of that aren't great, it's just something I have a feeling will happen.

Also a great possibility. With that said, and my above post.. I still think there is an excellent chance of Mayweather going into cruise control for 10-12, which would kill my bet.
