I totally agree with the TS. This is why I'm not a Floyd fan, his personality is just ridiculous and he has really fallen into this "Godfather" persona. I mean that won't stop me from watching him fight, buying his PPVs and just admiring his amazing boxing skills, but his personality is just ******ed. He is a child in a grown man's body.

He spent his entire youth in a boxing gym and never had to wonder where his next meal was coming from unlike Oritz. ***** come to think of it, MY childhood was rougher than Floyd's.

Floyd says he's tired of hearing about Ortiz's story. Did it ever occur to him that the viewers are sick and tired of him talking about how rich he is every single time the camera is on him???
    Great point.

He is a privileged Black American with a huge sense of ENTITLEMENT.

Let's face it, there is a HUGE DOUBLE STANDARD in this country and it makes me sick.
      Idiot.

Genius in the ring. Complete tool outside of it.

Shame, you watch early interviews of him and he could have turned out all right. Imagine how he could have been a role model to inspire young black people, instead he just waves his money in their face and says 'look at me, I'm getting paid and you're poor, f**k you'.

I take it a different way. I see it as him saying, if you WORK HARD, rather it be in your profession, going to college, this is what you can get, this is what you can succeed.

Trust me, either way black kids have millions of others role models, Floyd Mayweather might not even crack the top 100 of role models for black kids, most say they want to be like Lebron James, Jordan, Kobe, Barack ***** or some actor.

I'd say Andre Ward would be a good place to start if you wanted a boxing role model to look up to.

His uncle Jeff has said his whole persona is false. He was never hungry, never lacked for anything. I can see with his crazy father, why he might be a bit mentally unhinged. he never really had a childhood, and it ****ed him up, ala michael jackson. But even in his 30's, his behavior is that of a child. he's pedaling a lie, hence his insecurities. He's a fraud. im not saying that he isnt tough - he is, he gets hit in the face for a living - but he's not from the ******. He surrounds himself with people from harsher upbringings - but that doesnt make him ******.

When i look at Floyd, i cringe.

              That is all.
I find it very hard to judge or psychoanalyze people I know, let alone someone I have never met. I dont particularly like the way the guy tries to sell his fights, I find it downright corny and even cornier are his fans, who actually get taken in by all of that stuff.

He is just another dude with his own faults and foibles, the difference is that he is a sports star who unlike other sports stars, footballers, golfers etc. has to sell his fights to a PPV audience in order to make the vast sums of money he craves.

He seems to understand that he is more hated than loved and he can see the opportunity to make money on the strength of that. Class doesnt come into this for me because some of the most ****ed up and disfunctional people I have met fall into what you might pigeon hole as upper middle class.

Its true that in equal measure if you either love(*****) or hate(haterz..lol) the guy then you are giving him what he needs and he can congratulate himself on a job well done.

If role models are what you seek in boxing then I would agree. The same could also be said of the Klitschko brothers.

When the thread starts off with the words "I'm not a troll" you can pretty much guarantee that whoever writ it is a straight up troll.

Its an act but I do believe his persona is an over the top exxaggeration of his true personality.

Only difference is, Michael liked to hang out in a tree, think he was peter pan, and have sleepovers with children. Floyd is just an immature man-child who thinks its cool to act like an ass and continuously brag about how much money he has.
you elaborated on that michael jackson point pretty well, great post
