brilliant boxer, he does do charitable work, but he probably damages just as many with his lifestyle. people want to look up to him, and he portrays a certain image. look at floyd from the beginning of his carear - a complete sea-change

look at guys like ardien broner, gary russell junior, they idolise floyd, he should be setting an example, and speak the truth

    andre ward is an example

even if said fighters where, what difference does it make to floyd?

      is that not insecurity?

even if it all is for show, as you say, where does the show end? why is he assualting people outside of the ring?
      he's turning into donnie brasco.

please stop seeing things through your floyd-tinted specs
The reason he questioned these guys sexuality was simple.Ortiz said he looked up to DelaHoya as a god.DelaHoya criticised Mayweather's personality.
All Floyd masked was the hypocricy that DelaHoya had.In a way DelaHoya's just as flawed as Mayweather but he's selling a clean cut image while he's far from that.Ortiz's the same.Ortiz has already talked about Floyd's beautiful lips so where's the insecurity in telling the truth?

His uncle Jeff has said his whole persona is false. He was never hungry, never lacked for anything. I can see with his crazy father, why he might be a bit mentally unhinged. he never really had a childhood, and it ****ed him up, ala michael jackson. But even in his 30's, his behavior is that of a child. he's pedaling a lie, hence his insecurities. He's a fraud. im not saying that he isnt tough - he is, he gets hit in the face for a living - but he's not from the ******. He surrounds himself with people from harsher upbringings - but that doesnt make him ******.

When i look at Floyd, i cringe.

              That is all.
Cool story. It's always great to hear random Internet posters weigh in on things they have no clue about.

Seems like some of you have little understanding of boxing as a business. It's one thing to have talent but another to sell fights.Promoters and tv executives always need a package to sell not just the fight. Many of these fighters are bigger than boxing because of their aggregate intangibles.DelaHoya has always been a ******* sniffing cross dresser but he was playing the role of the good guy.Pacquiao is a wife cheating mean spirited gambler but he assumes the role of a dog eating, humble guy who likes to help people and that sells. On the other hand the bad guy image sells too, arrogance sells.Mosley lacked marketing as good a fighter as he was.He couldnt be differentiated from the rest,he had no story.Stop bothering yourself about these guys character, look at their boxing ability because the persona is a marketing gimmick.

I'm sure some of you have heard of Gorgeous George
                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wagner

Muhammad Ali and James Brown acknowledged that their own approach to flamboyant self-promotion was influenced by George. A 19-year old Ali met a 46-year old George at a Las Vegas radio station. During George's radio interview, the wrestler's promo caught the attention of the future heavyweight champion. If George lost to Classy Freddie Blassie, George exclaimed, "I'll crawl across the ring and cut my hair off! But that's not gonna happen because I'm the greatest wrestler in the world!" Ali, who later echoed that very promo when taunting opponent Sonny Liston, recalled, "I saw 15,000 people comin' to see this man get beat. And his talking did it. I said, 'This is a gooood idea!'" In the locker room afterward, the seasoned wrestler gave the future legend some invaluable advice: "A lot of people will pay to see someone shut your mouth. So keep on bragging, keep on sassing and always be outrageous."[1]
In September 2008, the first full length biography of Gorgeous George was published by HarperEntertainment Press. The title of the 304 page book is Gorgeous George: The Outrageous Bad Boy Wrestler who Created American Pop Culture by John Capouya. In the 2005 book, I Feel Good: A Memoir in a Life of Soul, James Brown said he used many of Gorgeous George's antics to "create the James Brown you see on stage".[1]
Bob Dylan said meeting George changed his life. In Dylan's book The Chronicles: Volume One, Dylan recounts a story of meeting Gorgeous George in person. He wrote, "He winked and seemed to mouth the phrase, `You're making it come alive.' I never forgot it. It was all the recognition and encouragement I would need for years."[1][3]
The 1951 Warner Brothers Merrie Melodies cartoon Bunny Hugged featured the one-shot character "Ravishing Ronald", modeled after Gorgeous George. The Bowery Boys also lampooned Gorgeous George (with Huntz Hall as a much-heralded wrestler) in the 1952 feature No Holds Barred. Musical performers such as Liberace, Little Richard, Elton John and Morris Day show signs of the George meme. Some consider George to have been an early example of camp.[weasel words]
The 1978 motion picture The One and Only starring Henry Winkler was loosely based on his career.
