Funny to see the role reversal, Hatton was a serial hold and hitter (hit and holder also against slower fighters), but Mayweather turned the tables. He pot shotted and held as if he'd done it thousands of times already. Mayweather wanted no part of inside fighting and Cortez gave Hatton no shot having the opportunity to.

Cortez is a terrible ref and this fight is evidence to why; even if you feel Mayweather would've won regardless.

So Cortez was just going to let Hatton hold to death and fight dirty?

Floyd gets no credit for the hatton win. If the referee helped kostya against hatton, kostya might have beat hatton even.
Thats how much help floyd got that night. But who can blame Cortez. Floyd did warn Cortez about hattons dirty tactics. Cortez was so tunnel visioned looking for hattons fouls he missed Floyde dirty tricks and elbows.

Just like that vid where you are asked to count how many times a ball is passed around, you actually miss a man in a gorilla suit who walks into the scene.

I hate him because of his ''I'm firm but I'm fair' bullshit speech he insists on making. In fact, every time he says it I cringe. Anyone who has the audacity to spout cheesy crap like that is obviously so deluded he actually thinks he's part of the show. What a tool. It's not about you at all.

A good ref should be practically invisible.

            very well said...

hatton coming in had to eat floyd's punches before he could get close to floyd...

when he did get close to floyd and before he could really do fighting close range, cortez did butt in real quick..so hatton strategically, was indeed at a disadvantage

if joes cortez is the ref for this fight than ortiz has no chance. he wont be able to make it an ugly fight. he will have to keep his distance because once he tries to work inside on floyd all your going to hear is break, break, break...

he was a joke in the hatton fight.it was my first and only trip to vegas and he was blatently cheating hatton throughout the fight, but like you say i dont think it would have made any difference apart from i dont think hatton would have been ko'd.everytime hatton got on the inside cortez split them up which forced hatton to lunge in from the outside which in the end was his downfall.but on occasion when it did get to fighting on the inside floyd beat him there aswell.hatton was a class act just met the 2 best p4p fighters on the planet and came up short, plus he was over the hill when he fought pac and his punch resistance was gone

You're mistaken. The ref for Ali-Wepner was Tony Perez.

Watching Floyd vs Hatton, is evidence to why Pacs resume and win over Hatton is so much stronger than Floyds.
