Joe Cortez Ruined the Hatton vs Mayweather

Any real fan remembers back when Tszyu out-priced himself. I sure do. The irony of it all was Gatti got paid better than Tszyu and Kostya got beaten.
Pac did beat Hatton. No one can take that from him. However, Hatton was no longer undefeated and was coming off his first KO in his career. He had been contemplating retirement ever since that KO.
Does that diminish Pacquiao's win? Absolutely not.
Does Pacquiao's win hold the same value as it would have over an undefeated champion? Absolutely not.
140 is the only division where a champion steadfastly outpriced himself. Everyother division Mayweather fought in he beat the #1.
Pacquiao sidesteps real CHAMPIONS in favor of competing for vacant titles against CHALLENGERS. Talk about refusing to face lineal champions!
When you have competed for 5 vacant titles in order to call yourself a multi-division titlist, the story is told right there.
Vacant title = didn't face the REAL champion to call yourself a champion.
You can't BE a champion if you didn't BEAT a champion.
I believe that Floyd would have beaten Tszyu. I don't believe that Pacquiao would have gone the full 12 rounds.
Tszyu was a much, much better boxer than Pacquiao with more power in BOTH hands. I don't think anyone within 4 divisions had as much punching power as Tszyu.
Mayweather vs Tszyu = Mayweather UD 12
Pacquiao vs Tszyu = Tszyu KO 9Comment

Cortez for sure doesn't like any kind of infighting. If you are a fighter that likes to work on the inside then you are definitely in trouble if Cortez is reffing.
As for the holding on the inside, I thought Floyd did plenty of that himself, he'd jump in with his lead left hook and look to tie up straight away as well as putting the odd elbow here and there into Hattons throat.
Regardless of alll of that I still thought it was a pretty decent fight and I agree with one guy here who said that was the best Hatton he had seen. I think that was Hatton at his absolute peak.
Cortez shouldn't be allowed to ref if he is going to be biased to a certain style of fighting, like preferring boxers who fight on the outside to those who prefer infighting. Let's face it, Hatton was never gonna win at distance with pure boxing. He had his only way of winning taken away from him, it frustrated him, got him a point deduction as a result of that frustration and after that he lost all composure.
Cortez, he's firm but he sure aint fairComment

Cortez is a good ref when the fight is not high profile..When it is he always put's himself in the fight one way or another..
As for Cortez ruing this fight I don't agree,it was still a good fight..I would have like to hear less of Cortez tbh and he should have let umm fight..Both fighters were fighting dirty,it seemed to be the way both wanted the fight to go..He(Cortez)interjected himself to much, but had nothing to do with the outcome of that fight..The outcome was going to happen weather it was Cortez Weaks or Bayless..Comment

not taking any credit away from floyd but cortez's ref'ing favored floyd. floyd's style of throwing a punch and then iniatiate a clinch to an onrushing hatton worked to his advantage because cortez was always ready to break them apart even before hatton could launch his inside attack.Comment
