Ortiz has to stay on Mayweather's left side (he did it against Berto, but he can improve upon it)...

He has to continuously push Mayweather back and stay on the inside (if he wants to rest, it has to be on the inside, instead of the outside footwork he does; he's a sitting duck if he does that)...

He has to take a page out of Pacquiao's book and use his footwork to feint (since he doesn't have much of a jab, he can successfully use it to work his way in, along with the 1st suggestion and his straight left and right hook to the head and body to keep Mayweather busy)...

Once he combines the above, he'll be able to close distance consistently and effectively. Controlling the geography is better than 50% of his problem against Mayweather. After that, he just needs to let his combinations go at over 60 punches per round to the head and body and they'll land if he's on the inside.

Not bad but Cortez doesn't let fighters fight in the inside. Instead of hearing/seeing Cortez to tell the fighters to try to fight out of it if they clinch for a second he'll rush in try to steal the spot-light and push the two fighters far apart. Which fighter will that benefit, will see fight night.

so cortez is going to be the referee? DANG, not again. might as well think of another strategy then because ortiz will be fighting two men he has to deal with cortez too.

I didn't know Cortez is going to be the ref. I'd protest that **** immediately if I were in Ortiz' camp.

But we don't have to wait until fight night, Cortez is a death sentence for inside fighters. His recent track record is enough for an inside fighter not want to fight in a fight involving him.

Victor Ortiz will NEVER beat Mayweather because Ortiz has ZERO jab! The main ingredient you MUST have to beat Mayweather, Ortiz does not have.

Victor is fooling himself if he believes he can win by jumping in off balance with crazy **** like the Berto fight. Victor does not want to stay on the inside with Floyd for very long at all. I think Victor is more dangerous to Floyd than Manny is, but I think Manny stops Victor like Floyd will.

Stop repeating what you hear on TV...

You don't need a jab to beat Mayweather. Is it a good tool to have to face him? Of course, but a jab is not a prerequisite to beating him.

Good defense takes precedent before the jab in beating Mayweather. People get the impression DLH stayed in the fight because of a jab that never landed... No... It was because of his neutralizing Mayweather's offense with his defense and using his activity to win the rounds. Same deal when Judah took his lead, good defense, foot movement/placement, and counter punching.

Ortiz' defense is the main reason why I haven't put money on him because he has all the physical tools and most of the skills to win (even without the jab), but probably won't win without good defense. What I posted above is a way to hide his leaky defense.

Ortiz is a sitting duck on the outside and has no chance of winning from there. His best bet is navigating his way to the inside as safely as possible and putting his combinations together. Mayweather won't be able to block or evade all of Ortiz' punches in combination on the inside, I don't care how good his defense is, Ortiz' 2,3,4,5's in combination in real time are not something he's going to deal easily with.

I gotta disagree only in that the jabs tend to keep him more honest. He's more confortable with a fighter with a weak jab (its also partially why he got sloppy with Mosley) but usually with an excellent jabber hes a little weary to go into pot shot mode but still I agree he doesnt like inside fighters. He tends to look bad against because hes constantly on the move to keep them out.

VICTOR ORTIZ NEEDS TO GUARD OR PROTECT HIS BODY DURING BREAKS. HE DOESN'T DO THIS. WATCH HIS PAST FIGHTS. HE IS USUALLY VERY CARELESS DURING BREAKS AND DOESNT PROTECT HIS BODY/STOMACH AT ALL. PLEASE SEND THIS WARNING TO HIM SO HE PREPARES AND TRAIN FOR THIS BECAUSE MAYWEATHER IS GOING TO THE BODY FROM THE OPENING ROUNDS ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

                  +

ALSO TELL VICTOR ORTIZ NOT TO LET MAYWEATHER PRESSES/PUSHES HIM DOWN DURING OR AFTER BREAK UPS. MAYWEATHER USES THIS TRICK TO TIRE HIS OPPONENTS A LOT. HE WILL USE IT AND VICTOR BETTER COME READY TO FIND A WAY NOT TO LET HIM DO THAT CRAP TO HIM. ALSO VICTOR ORTIZ NEEDS TO WATCH OUT FOR MAYWEATHER'S ELBOWS. PLEASE HELP PASS THIS TO ORTIZ.PLEASE!
                  NSB is getting outta control!!!

I'm not completely disregarding the importance of the jab against him, just the misconception of it as the "main ingredient" to defeating him and that without it it becomes an impossibility.

People don't understand what you just pointed out...

Is Floyd a better inside fighter than Ortiz? Yes!!! But that doesn't mean Ortiz can't/won't do damage there.

Was Corrales a better inside fighter than Mayweather? Was Hatton? Was Baldomir? No... But Floyd wanted no parts of it there with them because he knew what could happen if he allowed them the opportunity to fight there, where they wanted to.

Mayweather didn't want it on the inside against Castillo either, but Castillo, in the first fight, was the only fighter who consistently got to the inside (through his tactics, pressure, etc.) and had the capability to cause damage.

Ortiz has the explosion, foot speed, footwork, size & strength (to prevent getting tied up when he gets there (what Hatton didn't have)) to find his way on the inside, that combined with Mayweather being older and using less foot movement and you have a hotly contested fight.
