People don't understand what you just pointed out...

Is Floyd a better inside fighter than Ortiz? Yes!!! But that doesn't mean Ortiz can't/won't do damage there.

Was Corrales a better inside fighter than Mayweather? Was Hatton? Was Baldomir? No... But Floyd wanted no parts of it there with them because he knew what could happen if he allowed them the opportunity to fight there, where they wanted to.

Mayweather didn't want it on the inside against Castillo either, but Castillo, in the first fight, was the only fighter who consistently got to the inside (through his tactics, pressure, etc.) and had the capability to cause damage.

Ortiz has the explosion, foot speed, footwork, size & strength (to prevent getting tied up when he gets there (what Hatton didn't have)) to find his way on the inside, that combined with Mayweather being older and using less foot movement and you have a hotly contested fight.

    I agree, well broken down.

Ortiz throws good straight punches at times, but as soon as he gets excited he goes to throwing these ridiculously wide, almost roundhouse hooks. That's when Mayweather is going to counter him with ease, have a field day! He is flat-footed & wreckless.
He is wide open & squared up. If he tries his bull-rushing tactics against Floyd he will get smashed to bits with straight rights, left hooks to the body, you name it.

Maidana's big overhand shots caught him again and again, and Berto landed plenty of straight rights on him as well. His defence is horrific & this is mainly attributed to his overly aggressive 'I don't give a ****' style.

You just can't do that against Mayweather, you need to be patient, you need a plan A,B & C at least.

Ortiz never has a gameplan he just tries to overpower opponents and that is what his down fall against a pretty limited Maidana was. He does not go to the body, he rarely feints or moves his head.

IMO Ortiz puts up a brave effort but is stopped around mid-point.
