Not surprised at all. What I was surprised about was the news that this fight WOULD happen.

Burns' excuse for a title reign is still bloody pathetic, though.
You mean like Burns did when he went to Puerto Rico to fight Martinez for his title?...

Burns wasn't going to defend against anyone with a pulse, period. Posters complaining about the fight being in the US are just fooling themselves or being blindly nationalistic to think Burns would have fought him in Scotland.

          You subordinate fool.

It made clear financial sense to all parties concerned that Martinez vs. Burns be held in Scotland.

Now piss off back to fealty with you.

Burns would of left on a stretcher. Looks like he's taking the Humberto Soto route.

Ricky Burns will get killed at Lightweight.
Agreed. Burns may as well retire rather than move up to lightweight. Who's Ricky going to snatch a title from at 135?

Burns is big at his present weight and it's his main asset. He's a fairly competent stylist, but nothing special without that size. He'd be a bloody fool to give it up.

Also, his light punching really would be in evidence at lightweight, whereas his reputation as a feather-fist gives him a surprise factor at one-hundred and thirty pounds, where many smaller opponents can be somewhat taken aback to find that he can hit respectably for the weight.

I'm sure he'd be able to make super-featherweight easily enough if he was fighting Alex ruddy Arthur.

He won't make any money being retired.
