im saying berto isnt overhyped by any body but hbo. who else goes around proclaiming berto to be some monster??? and irregardless of all of that, he gets more than his fair share of hate, for what seems to be absolutely no reason. as if hbo hasnt overhyped a number of fighters in the past. berto is what he is, but hes not boring and hes not a bum and his fights are usually enjoyable. why hate on the guy? theres a difference between not liking or appreciating a guy and constantly making it seem like he does nothing rite.So you're saying Berto isn't over hyped? Really?
Hasn't he won 'Best prospect' like twice? I know he has won it.
The commentary last night were talking utter nonsense literally the entire fight.
He's overhyped by people on here who for some reason think he is better than he is. Which fortunately is only a small percentage.
The rest just see him for what he is; Not very good.Comment

I don't get why people not liking Andre Berto is such a tragedy. How is he not overhyped. No matter what HBO is trying to sell. It's over hyped. Comparing him to SRL and Taylor is over hype.
What's the truth that he said? Be defensive of Nationalism?
How many times have we seen on this board when a European fighter losses be called Eurobum?
Or a Puerto Rican lose, how they have no one right now?
It is what it is.
Berto IMO is a over hyped fighter. You like him and are a fan of his, cool. I'm not, sorry.
Doesn't he and his fans remind of Zab Judah and his fans?
I think they're remarkabley similar.
But even Zab Judah is better than Andre Berto.Comment

im pretty sure i said the kid was overhyped by hbo. the point is who listens to hbo? the hardcore fans? ****, u can scarcely find one who has anything good to say about the kid. or the casuals? they have no idea who the guy is. berto is overhyped by a network in the business of selling their fighters and their brand of boxing. How is he not overhyped. No matter what HBO is trying to sell. It's over hyped. Comparing him to SRL and Taylor is over hype.

that has nothing to do with the levels of unreasonable hate the guy gets tho. and if ur gonna tell me another fighter comes even close on this site, all ima say is ur wrong. i dont see it.Comment

bro, that's what the thread is about...its about HBO overdoing it
this thread was about last night's telecast and how they desperately tried to bring up his hype
how about letting Berto doing it with his fights instead of Kellerman's words?Comment

Plenty of people on this site alone do.im saying berto isnt overhyped by any body but hbo. who else goes around proclaiming berto to be some monster??? and irregardless of all of that, he gets more than his fair share of hate, for what seems to be absolutely no reason. as if hbo hasnt overhyped a number of fighters in the past. berto is what he is, but hes not boring and hes not a bum and his fights are usually enjoyable. why hate on the guy? theres a difference between not liking or appreciating a guy and constantly making it seem like he does nothing rite.
He gets more hate than most because I can't think of a single fighter his age and hype who main events Boxing cards who has such a diabolically slim resume and not a single good/impressive win on his resume and the sole time he stepped up in class he was convincingly beaten.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that is the reason. And it's a very logical reason.
It's nothing against Berto as a man, I have nothing against him.
It's that he is simply no better than an average fighter who is coming 30 and done almost nothing in his career and is STILL getting talked about as some kind of 'next big thing', like he has been called for years. And the comical part about it is he is seen as a prospect and has a prospects resume and is coming 30 years old.
It's draining, and annoying. So yeah, I think that's why.Comment

i disagree, berto's fans on this site are few and far between. and as far as his resume is concerned, hes not the only one and there will be more after him.Plenty of people on this site alone do.

the guy has absolutely no fanbase. and as far as what he did in the past, that all good n well and shame on hbo for doing this and that. at the end of the day, hes a fighter, and he get in the ring and fights. hes been in some good fights as of late and if that continues, there really should be no reason to hate. so he struggles against higher level fighters? he wasnt the first and he definitely wont be the last. and when i was writing i wasnt at all referring to u.Comment
