He has so much skills, fight IQ and hasn't taken any punishment, always took care of his body etc. Can he still be at the top of his game when he's pushing 40 or even beyond that? Or does Floyd rely too much on his physical attributes as well, which means he would start losing in a few years?
Could Mayweather still be as great at an old age like Hopkins?

Doubt he has the drive to fight into his late 40's to be able to match Bhop but he's also more of a athletic fighter and relies on reflexes and handspeed with his boxing fundamentals although if he wants to he certainly could be more than competitve for as long as he chooses dedicates himselfComment

That's really the only thing I'm wondering about with this issue, how much does he rely on his speed and naturally gifted abilities? And could he completely adjust his style once he loses that? He certainly has the skill, intelligence and dedication for it.
Of cource all of this assuming he would actually fight that long.Comment

NO, he would be slightly better off then a James Toney, who generally speaking is his equivalent in the Offense to Defense Ratio, especially similarities in defensive style. He has so much skills, fight IQ and hasn't taken any punishment, always took care of his body etc. Can he still be at the top of his game when he's pushing 40 or even beyond that? Or does Floyd rely too much on his physical attributes as well, which means he would start losing in a few years?
He is obviously in better shape than Toney. But his diet isn't up to par of a Hopkins. When questioned about his diet, he has admitted to being a Junk Food guy, even though he tries to eat organic food during Training.
His lifestyle isn't up to par with Hopkins'. B-Hop has stated that he never goes out partying at night, and has a certain time when he goes to bed at all times. Proper rest is just as important as diet and training regiment. Floyd on the other hand, while not drinking alcohol, does enjoy the night scene on a regular basis.
These are all little things that make B-Hop who he is: Regular Training Regimen, Consistent Diet, Rest. Hence why he is known as a Disciple of Discipline. Floyd got the Training part right, but what about consistent diet and proper rest?Last edited by cupocity303; 09-03-2011, 07:41 PM.Comment
