Could Mayweather still be as great at an old age like Hopkins?

Is Floyd even this conscious about what he puts into his body? To make his own meals like that.
Unless Floyd is smarter than I give him credit for, and deceiving the public.

Maybe the whole Soda & eating chips thing is just for show, and that's the only time he touches that stuff. He certainly doesn't want his sparring footage revealed, so he may as well hide the fact that he eats right.

He puts the idea out there himself, that he never watches footage of opponents (maybe he does), eats just food in front of the camera (does he eat it when the cameras are not around?), and just overall arrogant confidence.

Floyd will never get knocked out as long as he retires before hes 40. At somepoint I dont think he'll have the work rate to beat some of the busiest fighters.

If i was floyd, i would beat ortiz. Then i would see if Pacqiauo is willing to take "The Test." If not, I would move up to middleweight, beat Serg Martinez and then retire again. That would solidify him top 10 all time in my opinion, if he aint top 10 already

Maybe but in order to do so he would not only need the desire he'd have to take big risks and I don't see him doing that his 0 is too important to him.

Agreed. The only way he would not be so conscious about the Risk-Reward ratio, is if he lost. It would free him up to take risks without a care in the world, while still looking for megabucks of course.

But we don't know what's inside of him. Is he the type who would keep going after a loss or would he be like Tito Trinidad, Naseem Hamed, Michael Spinks, etc,.

Sidenote: I once emailed Jeff Mayweather, asking him that question. He said that little Floyd would keep fighting on, if he lost.

He is obviously in better shape than Toney. But his diet isn't up to par of a Hopkins. When questioned about his diet, he has admitted to being a Junk Food guy, even though he tries to eat organic food during Training.

His lifestyle isn't up to par with Hopkins'. B-Hop has stated that he never goes out partying at night, and has a certain time when he goes to bed at all times. Proper rest is just as important as diet and training regiment. Floyd on the other hand, while not drinking alcohol, does enjoy the night scene on a regular basis.

These are all little things that make B-Hop who he is: Regular Training Regimen, Consistent Diet, Rest. Hence why he is known as a Disciple of Discipline. Floyd got the Training part right, but what about consistent diet and proper rest?
Floyd does eat junk food but he also is a gym rat...you see how Roger and Senior look...they have great genitics and matabolisms in the family so his bad eating habits wont affect like that...Floyd doesnt drink or smoke weed and even thou you see him partying...he often goes to the gym or for a run right after...

No way, he relies on his reflexes way too much. Bhop is pure technical ability.

                NO and heres why...

Smaller guys tend to burn out faster than bigger guys

                Floyds been boxing since 3
Hopkins started boxing seriously at his late teens/early 20s

Floyd has a LOOOT more stress than Hopkins, more money more problems.
Court cases, baby mama drama etc

and like people said already, Popkins takes care of himself in and out the gym.. Ive seen plenty of videos of Floyd drinking soda and eating Popeyes fried chicken lol

                So... yea, no..

LOL you guys crack me up. You seriously think Floyd eats junkfood all the time. Are you guys that gullible?

An for your info, a cheatmeal like once a week in a healthy diet has no harm whatsoever.

If Floyd takes control of his finances i.e. his spending habits and dedication to everything opulent, he could conceivably retire on the earnings from his fight with Ortiz. But he won't, and how long he continues depends on two factors, the size of his ego and his bank account.

Many times fighters will fight on because they've mismanaged a king's ransom and need to make a living. Fighting into old age becomes less desirable when one realizes that resilience is reduced and old age is not so much fun when it's experienced through a dulled intellect or in a lot of pain. And ego? I don't think ego takes you that far away from your good senses, usually its need that pushes us to do something even when we know it will hurt.

Theoretically he could still be pretty good but what Hopkins is doing is pretty unique and I think specific to Hopkins and his character. Hopkins is a throw back to a time when fighters seemed to be roughly carved out of blood, sweat, and tears. He has a nobility that originates from the man but manifests itself in his boxing and dedication to the sport.

A lot of things are repeatable, but what are the unique characteristics that make up winners and over achievers?

That will be very difficult. Rarely do you see fighters in the lower weight classes fight at an elite level in their late 30's much less in their 40's. Speed and athleticism are more of a factor.

Also, PBF has been fighting since he was a little kid. All that sparring and training in general has to take a toll. Whereas, Hopkins, in comparison< started fighting later in life.
