Comments Thread For: Team Cameron: Monte Barrett Has Priced Himself Out

As previously reported, cruiserweight Shane Cameron is pursuing a fight with heavyweight contender Monte Barrett. Cameron is willing to move back to heavyweight for a chance to accomplish something that his arch-rival, David Tua, was unable to do - beat Barrett. Tua knocked Cameron out in two rounds in 2009. After the loss, Cameron dropped down to Tua. Barrett fought Tua to a controversial draw in 2010 and won a unanimous decision in their recent rematch.

barrett should reconsider this fight.$100000 plus tv revenue? why not? i think he wouldnt have too much trouble with cameron.barrett does hold 2 WBO regional belts now which should place him in WBO top 10 or even top 5 which would indicate he is going to wait for a bigger fight & payday.he won't risk his ranking like tua did against him.3 times i can think of a guy with a title shot coming who ended up losing in a tuneup fight.mercer vs ferguson(bowe was next), mccline vs brock(mccline was in line for another wlad fight), & now tua vs barrett(tua was next for vitali)...

Barrett beats Shane anyway besides I thought Shane had gone to cruiser? Barrett should fight Liakhovic, that would be a great action packed fight IMO

Pricing himself out = 8 coupons to McDonalds or Burger King.

Who does he think he is? Thats more money than 95% of people make in the world in a year. Dude needs to take any money he can get and save it up. Only a fool would refuse 100k + TV

This article is cribbed from a NZ paper's website and it gives the false impression that the negotiation is over, which isn't the impression the original article gives:

The real question is why is Chris LaBate putting his name on someone else's article when he is using nothing new or original in his own piece? He either needs to acknowledge the original writer or the web site he got the info from, or he's plagiarizing.

That seems weird, if he made only 80k in his last fight with Tua and is now refusing 100k + TV money? Doesnt make sense, especially Cameron has been a CW. Unless he thinks Tua will offer him more money for a rematch

I think the first two Tua-Barrett fights were very close and entertaining, so why not make it a trilogy?

It's not like either of them is going to beat Wlad or Vitali, but they can put on a good fight together.

I'm sure Barrett can make more than Cameron is offering in a third Tua fight.

Do some research before you make accusations. The information was sent out in a press release from a member of Cameron's team or his promoter. At least our writer shaked it up a bit, while the NZ writer appears to have posted the press release word for word under his own byline, which is not a crime but doesn't show much work ethic either.
