People forget that there is a huge Filipino population in the East Coast area especially New York City and New Jersey. I don't get what you ignorant people are talking about.

Here is a link in Wikipedia:

      Northeast

Filipino American communities are thriving in the New York City and Washington, DC metro areas including Northern ******ia.

      New York and New Jersey

Outside of California, one of the nation’s largest settlements of Filipino Americans is New York City, where nearly 60,000 Filipino Americans live. Within New York, the heaviest concentration is in the borough of Queens, with 32,843 members of the group. However, since Queens is a dense urban area, where over two million people live, Filipinos make up only about 1.5% of the total population of the borough. In New Jersey, Bergen County (14,898 Filipino Americans), Hudson County (19,877) and Middlesex County (12,499) all have substantial numbers of Filipino Americans. All three New Jersey counties are in the New York City area, making the urban region of New York-New Jersey the primary settlement of Filipino Americans in the Northeast.

Are you sure? cuz I've read on more than one occassion that he re-signed a multi year contract... idk if theyre talking about a new one or if theyre talking about the same one Golden Boy and Top Rank fought over...

Fellas, fellas it shouldn't be a shock to all of us; b/c this is how uncle bob works. You **** w/him and his company you get the shaft!!! I mean really, is it that hard to find a facility in Northen California should Carson be unavailable? I mean this is where Donaire is from, the Bay Area you can make a killing at the gate alone!!! But uncle bob says NO!! we are going the furtherest from Nor Cal as possible - New York b/c you hurt my feelings by trying to transfer to GBP behind my back. So now you are going to fight where I tell where to fight!!! Thanks Uncle Bob. You freaking joke of a promoter. So you couldn't find anywhere here at Nor Cal huh? Yeah right.

I think Arum might be using this as a "test fight" to see how many tickets Donaire, without another big name, can sell on the east coast. So that way he will know where to stage the fight with Juan Ma, or Gamboa.

you're probably right, but if he did sign a new contract extension i don't know why he would do so with another year and a half remaining on his current contract. last i heard the judge ruled in favor of top rank after he signed with golden boy - donaire thought his contract had ran out, because arum failed to give him the stipulated number of fights. but apparently since it wasn't "top rank's" fault he didn't get his fights (he was injured), it extends his contract through 2013.

              can somebody else help clarify?

his old contract expired in June 2012

However, in the contract, the promoter had the right to extend it for 12 months into 2013

They simply renegotiated the deal to a 4 year extension and better terms to Nonito's satisfaction

ahh ok thanks for the clarification on that. i think he made the right move by extending his contract. even though they are working with golden boy now, no telling what might happen in the future, and top rank definitely has the better fighters to make fights for donaire. gamboa vs. donaire is literally a DREAM fight!

He'll prepare for the heavier divisions the usual way, which is with sparring partners. When he moves up is not yet determined, and it's only sometimes that a suitable, not too dangerous opponent in the heavier division is available at the right time.

                      My opinion.
