Both will be tentative, conservative with their punches, and trying to get the upper hand. Neither will succeed, and it will be a close fight that will divide people as to who won.

I'm going with Dawson, not going to change my mind on this fight now. Been saying Dawson would win for too long.

However my hunch is that Hopkins is gonna take a page out of the Dawson/Pascal book, and dictate the pace by forcing Dawson to be the one coming forward, with Hopkins being the one, circling around, trying to Box (I.E. Similar to what he tried VS Tarver). Dawson looks average when he is the one that's coming forward. Most say the Pascal fight was a fluke, but even against Ian Gardner in 2005, Chad looked like crap because Gardner's strategy was to stick and move. Fortunately for Chad, Ian was a blown up Jr.Middleweight with no punching power.

Give me Hopkins by UD, boxing from the outside, with Chad looking lost chasing him around.
If B-Hop decides to be the one coming forward, and lets Dawson be the guy that back paddles and boxes, it's gonna be much uglier and closer fight.

Hopkins isn't Pascal, he can't move in out and with Pascal's speed, Hopkins doesn't fight like that. Dawson has shown that he can put pressure on his opponents, and he has good foot-speed as well. I think you're underestimating Dawson's boxing abilities.

And who are you kidding? Dawson dominated Gardner, Dawson toyed with him, fight wasn't even close.

Ah you're gonna go back as far as Taylor. Hopkins was dictating the pace in that fight, thus he was still the general. He just wasn't busy enough in the first half, like he was in the second half of the fight, thus lost. I still had him winning the first fight.

I personally think that he gave Taylor too much respect, because of all the, "Next Heir apparent to the Middleweight throne", hype that HBO bestowed upon Taylor. And Hopkins also started fighting way too defensively/cautious at that point, because he was on such a long Title streak. I.E. same has been happening to Mayweather in recent years. When you feel like you have too much to lose, you start getting more defensive
          .

I'm fairly confident that Dawson will win by decision in this fight. I think he's a difficult style match up for Hopkins at this stage of his career.

You're right, Hopkins isn't Pascal. He can do much more, while backing up and fighting from angles. Tarver/Pavlik-esque. But then you'd tell me, he needs the right opponent to do that and Dawson is better than those two. Correct that he needs the right opponent. Not correct that Dawson can't be handled in similar fashion. Maybe not as dominant, but still.

Yes Dawson did dominate Gardner on the scorecards. But I remember that fight, and remember thinking, "this Undefeated guy looks like crap chasing Gardner around the ring, if Gardner only had more fire power he could outbox him the way he is dancing around him." Of course I started respecting Dawson's skill a little more after that, watching him dismantle guys like ERIC HARDING and coming back from a knockdown to dominate Thomas Adamek. But still, I'm confident that he can't deal with movement. And Hopkins is pretty good fighter while moving.

Dawson can win this fight and beat the crap outta bhop he has all the tools but sadly I see the fight going something like tarver Hopkins but at a faster pace. People seem to forget that Dawson isn't really that much bigger or stronger then Hopkins there pretty much same in size and boxing ability.

So in other words Hopkins will frustrate Dawson and win on a points decision-_-

But if Dawson wins it'll be something like Taylor Hopkins

You know what, for a 16 year old, that was pretty good analysis.

                    I sort of agree.

Dawson prefers a slow pace just like BHOP and that aint good for Dawson, who will quickly be educated as to just why Hopkins is considered a legend. By that I mean Hopkins will use footwork and right hands to bust Chad up and frustrate him into chasing him around the ring which will play right into Hopkins hands. Dawson thinks he is the bigger stronger guy but I think Hopkins will quickly show him that is not the case and once he gets Dawson hurt it will be a new ball game. Hopkins by stoppage in 10.
