Yhis what I was talking about on another forum. Ortiz is a good "fighter" fun to watch, but he is still too green for a Mayweather fight.Ortiz lacks defense, and is a bit on the slow slide and seem to tire at the last few rounds.Ortiz has had only 2 world class fights(and he lost one) and the other was Berto. Unless he some how manages to get one of those hard shots in early and capitalize on it ,Ortiz will be picked apart and outclassed(I hope I am wrong)Dec 11th, 2010

LAS VEGAS -- Victor Ortiz and Lamont Peterson fought to a majority draw in a 10-round junior welterweight bout on the Amir Khan-Marcos Maidana undercard Saturday at Mandalay Bay.
Ortiz (28-3-1, 22 knockouts) was the aggressor throughout but had difficulty landing clean punches against a very good defensive fighter.
The Oxnard, Calif., had his best moment in the third round, when he dropped Peterson twice, once with a left-left-right combination and again as a result of a flurry that sent him flying against the ropes.
The 10-7 round salvaged the draw for Ortiz.Comment

You see the problem is.. Victors body at 24 is really ready to fill in an grow as a man and his natural weight seems to be about 175 possibly more.. at this point it will be hard for Victor to shed those extra ten without draining because he's been training for a while an is still around 160, if Vic wants to stay at WW he needs to stay either below or at 160 yr round, he is letting his weight go to far up between fights which is why Floyd labeled him undisciplined u see what happened to Hatton, Oscar and Lopez they did the same thing got tired and got Koed. Vic will be live early and will tire late and him being 24 won't mean a thing...Comment

True.
It made no sense to Ortiz either when he was asked about that in an interview.
Same as the 153lb agreement for Cotto/Marg.
WTF?
Completely unnecessary and pointless.Comment

So, Pac wasn't drained at flyweight ?
And, Freddie Roach, among other boxing insiders, were all wrong when they stated years ago that Ortiz was a natural welter and was killing himself to make 140?
Im gonna go with Freddie, and the fact that it looks absolutely impossible for Ortiz to make 140 now, and yet his last bout at JWW was just over 6 months ago.Comment
