Well, he wants the money ALSO.

But he is smart.... he knows that you deposit DOLLARS in the bank...not PERCENTAGES.

Wait, what?!? Martinez moved up to 160 for Williams?!? Williams, the guy who supposedly can make 147, the guy who's highest weigh in was 157? Williams, the guy who had less fights @ 160 than Martinez before their first match?!? Williams, the guy who asked for a catchweight for their second outing?

Yea, I guess Martinez had to move up to fight him.

Face it, Martinez is too scared to give up the same size advantage that he would have over Floyd and Pac and fight the SMW's. Hell, there's even a few he wouldn't be at a size disadvantage really.

The first fight against williams (the short notice fight) was at 160, martinez moved UP to fight williams. When the rematch didnt happen and williams/pavlik didn't happen, martinez stepped up instead to take on Pavlik.

So YES.. he moved UP to fight Williams on short notice. People seem to forget williams began campaigning at 160 for a fight witH pavlik. Williams, although he could make the other weights, was a MW at that time.

Before the Williams fight Martinez had already fought @ 160 twice. And yea, he fought Williams @ 160 (Williams weighed 157, Martinez 159 1/2) Williams was one fight removed from 154, don't make it sound like he was making a bunch of noise at 160 (aside from the Winky fight, of course) Why was Williams' last fight @ 154 if he's this big scary MW?

No one called him a big scary MW. No one would fight him, so he began campaigning around all of the weights. Williams fought andy kolle and winky wright at 160, called out Pavlik for a few months, had a fight get cancelled and Dibella ended up throwing martinez out there on short notice. Williams was 157 because he had a full camp.

Martinez can still make 154 and wouldn't even be the biggest 154, he's not even the biggest middleweight - Sturm is. He was 200lbs last summer.

Everyones logic is screwed. People want Pac and May for p4p supremacy while Martinez is willing (the third guy in the running) to make one of those fights happen as well. You'd think this would be what everyone wanted.. for the very best fighters in the world squaring off - martinez is willing to come down and make that happen (not really coming down when he belongs there anyway).

It's almost as bad as hearing people say JMM was too small for floyd, but Pac isn't, yet JMM isn't too small for pac now? Peoples logic are skewed.

Maybe Mayweather can pull a Paq or sugar ray leonard, Maybe Martinez fight at 154 with his 160 belt at stake...

Seems like this may happen and if so it would be pu$$y for floyd to take the MW crown from a guy who could only weigh 154 by contractual obligation.

Which is what he's been asking to do. He wanted cotto at 154 - NOT for cottos title either. He was willing to put his 160 belt up at 154 against cotto. Only thing cotto would put up is a possible loss on the record, nothing else.

The man is at that point in his career where Money and status is all that matters to him. He aint exactly young and i doubt he wants to spend more time fighting lesser known men just to get a break. He's doing the right thing, and he's the only guy risking anything major in the process.

Dude, don't post here if you are not knowledgeable.

Paul Williams was slated to fight Kelly Pavlik, and had already moved to 160. Pavlik jerked P-Dub twice, and Tall Paul said "eff this", and looked for another dance partner.

Paul was at 160, and Sergio was at 154.

Sergio moved up to 160 to take the biggest fight available to him. He did it on short notice.

Knowledgeable posters are shaking their heads at you now.

Using YOUR logic, Paul Wiliams had fought at MW about a dozen times.

Dude. Stop. Martinez was a 154. He only moved up to take the Williams fight.
