I would say the most important criteria would be effectiveness

          Certainly.

As has already been said effectiveness is the criteria. To me an effective jab isn't just being dominant alone, but what else it sets and or opens up. Based on this here are my top 10 greatest heavyweight jabs.

          1. Larry Holmes
          2. Sonny Liston
          3. Muhammad Ali
          4. Joe Louis
          5. Gene Tunney
          6. Lennox Lewis
          7. Wladimir Klitschko
          8. Micheal Moorer
          9. Rid**** Bowe
          10. Mike Tyson

            *Bump*

i really dont rate Lennox jab, Wlads is much better. Foreman i'd have in there purely on the fact that he could KO ppl with it. Seriously he was rocking prime Holyfield with those and Lennox coundn't do those with his uppercuts !

Off the top of my head, I'll go with:

              Holmes

              Oscar

              Quartey

              Wright

              Hearns

              In no real order

Pinklon Thomas had an excellent jab. Very effective, too.

I'm also questioning Wlad's jab. Yeah it's been very effective, but against who? Samuel Peters? i think Peters could be the worst heavyweight champ of all time! Even though Haye lost widely, every round was very close and Haye. Haye at times was easily able to avoid Wlad's jab with simple head movement and the thing is i've hardly ever seen head movement from him. But his Jab hasn't failed him in over 6 years so i think it deserves credibility.
