Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Ortiz is Not Smarter or More Disciplined

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is very confident as the upcoming fight with Victor Ortiz approaches. Mayweather will attempt to capture Ortiz's WBC welterweight title on September 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Ortiz is bigger, younger and stronger, but Mayweather believes his speed, defense and overall skill will win the fight.

I think fighting once a year as you get older is an incredibly smart thing to do, to preserve your longevity.

i agree with floyd - the layoff won't hurt him. but im interested to see what floyd will rehydrate too. . . i doubt he will reveal his weight on fight night. he refused to do so against marquez and mosley.

it doesn't really matter, though, floyd is just too good for victor! plain and simple. i could go on forever why he is too good, but i don't think i need to explain it much. death by 1000 lead right hands for victor. . . im sure he can burrow in and do some work here and there, maybe snap floyd's head back a few times, but i just don't see how victor can win. but i still would LOVE to see victor win this! september 17th can't get here fast enough. . . .

Floyd appears focus and ready to go. He is also right. He has far too much boxing wisdom and ring experience to lose to Victor Ortiz. Also, he's very confident he's going to win too and knows what he's doing or he would've never taken this fight in the first place. Additionally, he already knows in advance, what Ortiz' strengths and weaknesses are. Vic is your basic one dimensional offensive fighter; A boxer/slugger type. He's big, strong, powerful and likes to hit but he is also prone to getting hit and getting hit often too. So as the old saying goes a good defense will always shut down a good offense any day.

right, right. . . if ortiz has more natural speed and power, THEN **** could get real for floyd. but floyd will be able to see every punch coming, and will be able to roll with it as a last resort if anything. . . he's better on the inside than victor, and a LOT better on the outside off the back foot. Also, Floyd is deceptively strong. he can't be bodied. . . he's a very physically strong dude.

Ortiz is getting knocked out. The reason why is because he will come to win.
