  • I agree that Ortiz has the all the physical tools in potentially defeating Mayweather. He's younger, stronger, faster, more athletic and hits the harder of the two as well. Additionally, he's absolutely correct. His best chances of upsetting Floyd are getting off first and making it a very fast-paced fight. However, with that being said, I still question his toughness and there's no way an opponent can defeat Floyd without it. Mayweather is perhaps the smartest fighter ever. He is the master of frustrating opponents to the point of breaking their wills. Under pressure and adversity, Ortiz has shown a tendency to give up. Remember, this isn't Andre Berto he's challenging. This is arguably the best p4p fighter in the world he's facing, which makes a huge difference. Therefore, I predict a UD or a late round TKO win for Mayweather in this fight.

    • Ortiz is going to be patient, and take his time, by breaking Mayweather down round by round - until the knockout comes.

      • Ortiz will have to make this a rugged fight to win. He's going to have to pressure Floyd 3 minutes of every round. And realistically, he needs for the long layoff and age factor to play a huge role in the fight. If Floyd comes in at his best and still in his prime form, he will use Ortiz's aggression against him. The same way he did Hatton. Ortiz will get hit with shots that he's never been hit with before. If Floyd works the body, he can get a late KO. But if Floyd has fell off and is no longer the same ring technician, it will be a long night for him. He will need his legs to work the ring and make Ortiz miss. If the legs are gone, the younger stronger Ortiz will pound him.

        • Ortiz does hit hard and is very strong, but I don't think he has that brutal KO power in both hands like Mosley. That being said, I still remember the words of Brother ****m. Once Floyd gets tagged hard, he's going to sprout wings and spit fire. There's a warrior in Floyd as well. And more importantly, Floyd truly believes that he is the best fighter in the world and can adapt to any style and any fighter. I can't wait for this fight.

            • its hard to hit mayweather cleanly all night long, let alone a few times..

instead ortiz should try to win on activity and volume alone..

ortiz should try to go to his right and while floyd sits back and bends over to

his right and ortiz should stay to his right, floyds left side and just **** floyd

in the body and mainly his kidneys....

two things happen, one thats debilitating and hard to endure for long, and

secondly floyd cant score when he is bent over right and ortiz is on his left.

another thing, many people say its bad ortiz lounges forward after his punches

in this case it will be beneficial, look how khan did the same thing against zab

sure zab was able to dodge a lot but bent over with khan lounging over top

              he could NOT counter

ortiz can benefit this way as well with floyd not being able to counter..

if anyone stands at a line with floyd he will beat them with boxing skill

what floyd doesnt have is heavy thudding hands...he is also 34 now, older and

              his footwork is slowing down....

ortiz is a younger stronger and bigger welterweight..

he needs to use his advantages, stay to the right and **** that body, that

              kidney all night

Great analogy! I like what you are saying about how Ortiz should just attack with a high volume of punches in order to wear down the much older Mayweather; Mainly attacking the kidney area on the left side of his body with right hooks. That's not a bad strategy but there is one thing about Floyd Mayweather that cannot be overlooked and that is dangerous counter punching ability. Unless time and ring rust have eroded his skill set, I can see Mayweather taking a step back and coming over the top of those kidney shots with constant and countering lead left hooks of his own against Ortiz. It's a risky strategy but I would commend him on just the effort alone because with Floyd's low punch output, it would be very wise to try and swarm him on the inside from the opening bell in order to get his punches off first. It won't be easy but that is his only shot at winning this fight because by being patient and taking his time from round to round, Money would just potshot this Ortiz kid at whim; As he has done in his last two previous bouts with Juan Manuel Marquez and Sugar Shane Mosley.

                  • If Floyds fights Ortiz the same way he fought Phillip Ndoh,He Stops Ortiz in the Mid rounds.

                    • I wouldn't be surprised if Ortiz will quit just like he did with Medaina. He will start strong but when he wil be put in deep water, he will quit. Ortiz and Judah are the same. They talk big, but when troubled they will put their tail behind their legs. Run quiters run...LOL
