The idea that MP could go broke is laughable to me. Why you ask? Because he is a congressman in a country where endemic corruption exists at every chain in the institutional ladder. If he was ever in danger of going truly broke he would do what every other politician in that country does and just siphon some money out of a budget set aside for something.

Even if he is broke now, he doesn't ''need to keep fighting''. Lets say he makes 10 million in his next fight, that should be more than enough money to make the right investments in life and live comfortably.

I don't understand why fighters are so quick to buy expensive cars, homes and ****. I wouldn't exactly live in a rut but I'd rather invest the money I make early in my career whilst I am in a position to recover from potential financial losses.

In other words, Pacquiao would make a desperately poor country even MORE poor?

The Philippines have suffered so much already. They received billions in foreign aid, military leases, and sailor expenditures. Where did that money go? People deserve better.

It is one of the poorest countries in Asia, and the prostitution industry is as big as the manufacturing industry. That isn't a sustainable economic model.
