    here is why :

-jeff lacy's power : OVERRATED . he is strong , he is very very heavy handed , but lets face it he couldnt stop ross thompson and richard grant . both are far from 168 pounds pernell whitakers and thompson was destroyed in 4 rounds by fernando vargas at 154. omar sheika is a durable fighter but if you really are a 4#4 puncher you stop him .

-jeff lacy's style : very entertaining . bullies people to the rope and pummels them with nice combos . but against a slick rangy boxer , its not gonna work . and he can be easily countered.

-jeff lacy chin : has it been tested by a big hitter ? No , so it s hard to figure . look good tough.

    good points :

-willing to line them up , goes for the big guns . i give him respect for that .

    - has a very good jab when he reminds to use it.

_ his marketing power : this guy has superstar written all over him . he has the looks , the style the arrogance of the boxing champ . he can be a mainstream audience star .

    jeff lacy main rivals :

kessler : people assume he is gonna get beat up but admit it , have you seee him fight ? no ? me neither .

calzaghe : calzaghe is bigger than lacy . yeah really . and he can box from the outside , and he can punch . if he mans up and take the challenge of lacy he has a very good chance of beating him .

he steps up in weight tarver may outbox him badly and pressure isnt enough against glen johnson , who are big 175 pounders .

in a few words , let s wait before making him the feared KO artist he isnt .

Jeff Lacy is young, and has a TON of potential. his latest fight is proof of that, stopping robin reid, the guy has only had 20 fights, dont base his earlier fights on how he is now, he has grown alot and will continue to grow

i think we shud stop putting so much emphasis on the robin reid fight...as some1 posted earlier reid's preparation for the fight was awful and his timing was way off. Sad thing is - reid is the kinda fighter who wud give lacy a gd test as reid is a slick counter boxer with skills and granite chin. Also the referee in te lacy v reid fight gave one of the most biased displays in favour to lacy i have ever seen....

Anyways - i think wat makes lacy good is firstly his size...say wat u want but the guy is a huge super middleweight. People say taylor v lacy wud be a gd fight but lacy is just that much bigger - he wud engulf taylor. Also lacy barrages opponents with punches, swarms them making it hard to counter.

Saying that - i think a slick boxer who stays on the outside and uses speed wud beat him. I think a guy like howard eastman wud be an interesting test for lacy. Lacy wud beat calzaghe in my opinion. At lightheavy i think roy jones wud just box the life out of him....lacy wud beat tarver thou pressurising him. Johnson v lacy wud be interesting. As wud hopkins v lacy if hopkins moved up....and winky wright - but i think winky too small for super middleweight. Also look out for a guy called carl "the cobra" froch from the UK at super-middlewight - anbother guy with lot of skills

i think lacy is pretty good ,but he is a lil bit sloppy. he throws his punches wide.

but damn can that kid counter. he agresses you and counters you at the same time making it very difficult to keep him off of you.

basically he is a real good fighter but he is young and has a few things to work on

Why does everybody keep reffering to him as a kid. He is 28 years old. He is the same age as PBF and 2 years older than Kessler. Yes he has improved over the last couple of fights but he should be around his peak now with his age. Every time there is a discussion about some of his flaws people seems o be willing to just write it off to him being a kid and being inexperienced. I don't think that it is so. He should be mature now. He is not a boy any longer and he is not likely to improve such a great deal more like many people seems to think.

I my opinion does he lack a bit on the technical side but he is very strong and seems to have good stamina plus (perhaps) also a good chin. So far it seems to have been enough to win his fights but i think a technical boxer with good movement could be able to outbox. Take the Vanderpool fight for example. If the abilities he has is enough to unify the division i doubt but i will commend him for being willing to try and i do really hope he gets a chance to do so for that could make some really good fight.

Wal-Mart did something similar a while back in a commercial for Wrangler jeans. They played "Fortunate Son" by CCR at the part where he says "Some folks were born made to wear the flag..." and ended the commercial before he could get to saying "It ain't me!", lol!

Okay, to stay on-topic, Lacy was rocked pretty badly by Vanderpool in the early going, so you have to worry about his chin a bit. Plus his finishing ability has been suspect, as the Shieka fight showed. He didn't even manage to KO Reid, who was just about dying out there. Still, like people say he has the potential to someday be great.

When Tommy Hearns and Julian Jackson hit people with their best shots the fights ended on the spot. There ws no quitting on the stools. Lacy is not in THAT class. So, basically, either you are a huge puncher or you are not. Lacy is not. Grant trained NO DAYS for the fight,he told me so himself when I worked with him for a fight last year. Went 12 and got up from 2 knockdowns. Does he do that with Julian or Hearns? DOUBTFUL at best

He's too easy to hit, and Vanderpool gave him enough trouble to lead me to believe that he could be dropped or even KO'd. If he could improve his defense some, that would help alot, with his offense.
