Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo rematch, Gatti, Judah, Baldomir["real WW test" - Larry merchant himself the biggest Floyd hater], De La Hoya, Hatton, Mosley, and now Ortiz should give Mayweather a war cause Ortiz is always in wars.


It is crazy to think that way, that a fighter needs to be dropped or be in a war to be great.

Ok then ill rephrase it he needs to beat a prime atg to accomplish greatness,to most outside of hardcores he is a bia who is ducking Pacquiao,i know different but opinions rule in history.

C'mon neither fought anyone worth a damn, especially Moorer who only fought journeymen - in fact he was actually having quite a lot of trouble with a few of the stiffs. Shane fought like 2 contenders and looked okay I guess but very beatable by almost any great lightweight, he actually drew a lot of criticism in those days, its only been the past few years that people have been calling him a "great lightweight" and things.

Moorer was being beaten in this fight up until he KO'ed Stewart in the 8th.

What fighter in that era did not struggle at times,i consider 1970-1990 the prime years of boxing,where fighters actually trained and there were no beer swilling jokes.

He didn't fight anyone good and neither did Shane really. I don't see how either are greats at either weight and neither proved they could hang with greats at either weight.

Any great fighter has had there war,Ray Robinson,Jake Lamotta,Srl,Hearns and Hagler,Ali Frasier and Foremen,and the list goes on he needs a war he needs to be dropped and win,what more do fight fans like then a guy that delivers kos a guy who gets off the canvas to win.

The only guy who can give Floyd a war would be Martinez, which is why I'd like to see it. I think Floyd would really have to dig deep to win.

I know EXACTLY what TS means....I feel the same and have felt that way for a long time....I was hoping Shane would take him there....almost but not quite ....and thats the thing...ALMOST is not good enough in this sport....for Floyd to win the way he does requires skill at the highest level...when you're playing on that level its not easy to find a rival....thats why so many are counting on him to fall off a lil' and drop to a level where he can be put in a situation that requires Roger and the rest of the corner to have a panic attack....atm Floyd is too far ahead to be dragged down in the trenches....dude is ultra special....it is what it is
