I see what you mean. In regards to my last post i would add that there should be another category. puncher a guy who throws heavier attacks from long range and has a more refined boxing IQ that a slugger who is exclusive to throwing hard shots with either hand. A puncher tries to set his shots up.
Pac jabs like Shane Mosley in his prime. It's a jab that breaks distance and is only used to set up his combinations. Boxing one would say, utilizes his jab effectively buy not only setting up his compinations but also by off setting his opponents rhythm as well as using it as defensive component. which manny does NOT do. So I would not consider him a boxer by definition. The majority of his fights he would throw a jab only to set up his combinations once the rhythm is set and he has a good bearing of distance, he punches his way in to swarm with his combinations at medium range. Making him box outright with his jab makes manny ineffective. In the latter part of his career he is also using his right hook more to break distance not a jab. So i stand by my assesment of manny being a puncher swarmer. there is nothing wrong with that style he's become very effective with it thus far.
