Since he boxes at mid range, has fast hand speed, a great combination puncher, a good defence, counterpunches a great accuracy and have great power.

    Pacquiao is a boxer-puncher.

That was what i was talking about. My point was that Benitez didn't lag that far behind Leonard it terms of pure boxing skill (i actually had the fight close going into the last round), while Pacquaio isn't nearly as skilled at Mayweather. If the fight was a chess match for 12 rounds, would Floyd not dominate him? I actually think this could be a good , possibly close fight and Pac will have his moments, but boxing is not the way to go for him. I wouldn't even classify his style as a boxer/puncher, more of a quick handed southpaw volume puncher that befuddles you with his speed (if he can) and attacks at angles.

Julio Cesar Chavez is a boxer-puncher.
        I know right.

        • I would say Chavez was more of a skilled pressure fighter or a brawler with skill. Yeah he could pull back at times and use his jab (against a select few opponents) but his main game and what he was most effective at/known for, was closing the gap and wearing you down with body punches.

Exactly JCC was a very skilful swarmer.

Some people just don't get it.

It's like calling Lennox Lewis a slugger because he went toe to toe with Vitali

                • I love what your creating here much respect but your aticle debunked you inital argument.

"It depends on the level of skill each man possesses as to how any bout will turn out"

it says so about 9 paragraphs down. This is a truth. I do believe in styles but most of it also depends upon a fighters age and training habits. What your constituting with you Thread is an absolute, which is highly unlikely.

It all comes down to how much one is willing to work and attain a level of skill or adequate knowledge in the circumstance they are moving into.

In this case you then have to look at what has been done by each boxer to permit and educated guess. Who has fought the more skilled opponents who shows the most growth and diversity. a guesstimate of who might be further in decline and who is more prone to change tactics part way threw to establish a victory. raw as well as technical ability are viable roads as well but fall short if they don't show promise in regards to focusing on a goal and it's completion.

Pac is a puncher swarmer by definition given to this thread. He doesn't has a jab and usually tried to break distance with with his left at times lunges in until he stets up shop and then unleashes a swarm of punches. if you don't make him bridge the gap he just swams punches. In facing pac his i would say his greatest asset is his weakness. timing and a good jab and footwork will frustrate him. when he eventually does swarm his defence immediately afterward is terrible. he can't attack from angles if his opponent moves around the ring and he can't box going backwards. He predominately is always lunging throwing his shots against opponents who oblige him. I think facing a worn JMM is a good test to see how far he has come OR how far JMM has gone. But i think it is entirely a different fight when it comes to FMJ. Manny hasn't shown any kind of resistance of strategic affirmation against a guy who can box and time him, with the likes of FMJ, that lack of intuitiveness would likely be presented at a whole new echelon.

pac may appear not to have any jab..

bcoz he does not jab like most conventional boxers do...

his jabs are not really meant to hurt his opponents..

along with his in and out style his jabs are just to set up his combos..

so his jabs don't look like anything erik dishes out...

awkward..pac may be an awkward boxer-puncher, if there is one..

that's why he's difficult to figure out in the ring
