De La Hoya fighting Hopkins was just like Tyson fighting Lewis. Pure paycheck, nothing else, never expected to win and wasnt willing to put it all on the line to do so

Oscar didnt need NArd to make a money, he could have fought you and made more than than almost any other fighter on the planet...

IF he wanted 10-20 million dollar payday all he had to do was talk to Nando.

When people say Oscar came back for the paycheck they are missing the boat, he could have chosen just about anyone for that paycheck, he didnt have to choose the undisputed middleweight champion of the world as well as the p4p king.

If Oscar had gotten up he would've just been beat up more. Because your able thump your fist against a canvas means that your strong enough to fight Hopkins after already going down? C'mon peeps let's use a little bit of sense here. Anybody who's seen Hopkins fight would see that he's a pretty good finisher when he gets a fighter in trouble. A reluctant Hopkins was starting to beat Oscar, the knockdown was all he would need to really get at him. I don't understand why this is even still being discussed. Had Oscar gotten up he wouldn't have lasted the remainder of the fight, he probably knew that.

Wat was wrong with de la hoya in the hopkins fight?
Besides the fact he was a blown up welterweight fighting the best middleweight in the world?

De la hoya was scared and quit at the first opportunity he had! If you re-watch the knockdown, he almost missed the opportunity by waiting 5 seconds too long to fall from the mediocre shot to the liver. I don't care what anyone says, De la hoya quit in that fight and wasn't hurt bad at all! It is so much more obvious by their partnership now.

Also remember, Oscar was no way near 160 pounds. He weighed in at 155, and there is no way he gained weight for the next day.

how can you say he was scared? He didnt have to fight Bernard he could have fought any Welterweight and dominate the whole division or at Junior Middleweight and still get the same money he got.

Exactly, he could have fought you or me or my neighbor...hell he could have fought your neighbor too and made close to the same money.

People who say he fought Nard for the paycheck...guess what...you could not be more wrong!

But I can understand how you could make that mistake, I mean we are talking about Bernard Hopkins hear...**** didnt he make a ****load for fighting that Hakkar guy?

Paycheck + Hopkins = dead wrong!

oscar could have fought anybody and made alot of money... but IF the fight with nard was "fixed" than he made alot of money and didnt have to go through a real fight to make it...
