Wat was wrong with de la hoya in the hopkins fight?

He just seemed slow and cumbersome, didnt look like the old de la hoya at all. Just didnt seem right - and then the "KO", come on....so was this fight fixed? I find it strange how they become close business partners soo soon afterwards...

De La Hoya never should have taken that fight, he finally figured it out in the ring, what a joke.

I thought DLH fought exactly how he should have to try and steal a victory from Hopkins. Unfortunately, Hopkins caught up to him. If not for the body shot, DLH might have been able to win a decision. He had everyone on his side, so if it was close, he would have gotten the decision. Of course he should never fight at 160 again.

You can't blame De La Hoya... It was a total miss-match way before it started.

De La Hoya first won a world title at Super-featherweight... Hopkins started his career as a Light-heavyweight!

Delahoya held his own and won 4 of the 1st 8 rounds.

He's a gutsy fighter, and one thing you can say about him is that he alwasys looked to fight the best.

            He was just outmatched.

After the 6th, Hopkins was starting to come on.

In the end, he was clipped to the Liver.

If you think that was faking I suggest you go to a boxing gym and get someone to hit you there when you're not ready to receive it.

im not suggesting he was faking it - but come on...going straight into a business partnership...the thumping of his fist repeatedly with force into the canvas...?? i dont buy it...sumting was up. De la hoya had huge heart - if he had enuff energy to thump his fist down the way he did, i reckon he cud have got up - but i reckon sumting else was going down.

It was a perfect punch by Hopkins. As Bozo said, DLH stood in there for a bit, but Hopkins was just too much. The combinations of Bernard's skill and size wore down DLH.

De La Hoya was an overstuffed welterweight. He doesn't have the body to fight at 160. As some have said, he started out as a lightweight and was deadly, he kept that speed until welterweight, where he was an incredible fighter. But even at 154 he didn't look too sharp. 160 was just too much for him, he didn't have the speed or the power at all at that weight.

As I said, if you don't but it, sell someone on hitting you in the liver when you're not expecting it.

It paralyzes you, and sends waives of pain through your body.

As for the partnership, it simply made business sense.

Shane signed with Oscar too, it happend to make business sense.

No disrespect to anyone, but he was clearly acting.
I lost a lot of respect for him that night...whatever was left.
