    That's correct.

We get most of the big fights for free and have done for a long time.

We only have to pay PPV for UK fighters.

For example, DeGale-Groves was on PPV whereas all of Mayweather's fights have been for free (except when he fought Hatton and his next one) since the early 00's.

We have to pay for Sky Sports, ESPN and Premier Sports (Premier Sports is a new channel and have the same owners as Sentanta I believe) Which for example showed the Bantamweight final on saturday.

It's possibly because Boxing isn't really that big at all in this country.

I'd rather pay £15 to watch Mayweather/Pacman fights then on watching prospects like Gavin, DeGale etc fighting bums.

We have to pay for David Haye's fights.

Anything that is picked up by sky sports is free but it's a subscription channel, cheap, has all the exclusive football games (soccer) also. Problem is boxing here isn't that big & not many people are going to pay for a PPV that starts 4 am unless Ricky Hatton is the main event.

i don't believe there is a big enough market in the UK for fights with US fighters to be on ppv

especially to be broadcasted at 1am-5am (which is usually the timeslot for american fights)

just would not sell and does not make ANY sense!!!

I believe they are popular in Denmark for Kessler's fights.
I don't know what other countries do, but at Greece for example, we don't have PPVs. If you 're a sports fan you can subscribe for 50E/month to NOVA satellite bouquet and watch almost any big sports event you want + access to movie and doc channels. I read a few months ago that this greek bouquet is getting popular among british pub owners because it's cheaper.
I don't know if it has boxing, but pretty much everything else is in.

Also, greek MMA fans can watch UFC main cards for free (and legally) via a greek sports website whereas americans and many others pay for the main event.

To conclude, I believe that the whole PPV system is just a fraud. You pay to watch HBO, you pay to watch SkySports, so why do you have to pay them again? Especially when the amounts are as big as I read above (25$+).
